The Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference (DVCHC) is a collegiate hockey conference associated with the Collegiate Hockey Federation (CHF) and independent women's university teams. The conference has men's teams that compete within divisions II and III of the CHF and women's teams that compete in divisions II and III of the ACHA. The DVCHC founding President was Finbarr O'Connor. Coach O'Connor was Head Coach of the Saint Joseph's University team, he was league President for 10 seasons and Coached St. Joe's for 35 years. He was inducted into the Saint Joseph's University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. Coach O'Connor is the only non-varsity inductee in their Hall of Fame.
The first season (1971–1972), The league consisted of six teams: Bryn Athyn College, LaSalle, St Josephs University, University of Delaware, Villanova, and West Chester.
The Men's Division has 24 current members that are split into three divisions. The National is considered the higher division. The season ends each year with division playoffs.
The Women's Division has 14 current members split in two divisions. Division 2 has a North and a South section whereas all of the teams in Division 1 are in one section.

The Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS) is a voluntary, non-profit consortium of independent schools in the Delaware Valley area of the United States. The East Coast Conference was a college athletic conference at the Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It was founded as the university division of the Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) in 1958. The MAC consisted of over 30 teams at that time, making it impossible to organize full league schedules in sports like football, basketball, and baseball. In 1958, the larger schools created their own mini conference, consisting of 11 members.
The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) was an NCAA Division III collegiate athletic conference in the Mid-Atlantic United States that existed from 1992 to 2023. There were nine full member institutions when the conference. The conference's membership, as with most Middle Atlantic conferences, was shaken as a result of the formation of the Landmark Conference and its ensuing domino effect. The conference, founded in 1992 as the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, changed its name in 2008.

The Liberty Bell Classic was conceived in 1992 as a way for local Philadelphia-area Division I colleges to compete against each other in a tournament, as well as an opportunity for the schools to play on the big league field of Veterans Stadium. The original eight schools were Drexel University, La Salle University, Saint Joseph's University, Temple University, University of Delaware, University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, and West Chester University. In the first championship game, Delaware defeated Villanova 6–2.
