Dele Joseph Ezeoba GSS fwc MSc MRIN FCIS (born 25 July 1958) is a retired vice admiral in the Nigerian Navy who was the 20th Chief of the Naval Staff. [1] Prior to that appointment,he served as Deputy Commandant at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC),Jaji,Nigeria. [2]
Admiral Ezeoba was born on 25 July 1958 in Jos,Plateau State,Nigeria. He attended the Nigerian Defence Academy,Kaduna,before he proceeded to the Britannia Royal Naval College. [3] He later attended the AFCSC as well as the Naval War College,Newport,Rhode Island. [4] He also obtained a Master of science (M. sc) in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan. [5]
Prior to his appointment as the Nigerian Navy Chief of Naval Staff on 4 October 2012,he was the Deputy Commandant Officer of the AFCSC. [6] [7] He has also held several positions in the Nigerian Navy until he attained the peak of his naval career as the Chief of Naval Staff. [8] He served as the Director of Operations Naval Headquarters (NHQ),Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy's premier training institution,Command Operations Officer Eastern Naval Command and member of the Armed Forces Transformation Committee. The First Sea Lord,officially known as the First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff (1SL/CNS) is a statutory position in the British Armed Forces,usually held by an admiral. As the highest-ranking officer to serve in the Royal Navy,the chief is the principal military advisor on matters pertaining to the navy and a deputy to the Secretary of State for Defence. In a separate capacity,the CNS is a member of the Chiefs of Staff Committee and,thereby,a military advisor to the National Security Council,the prime minister and the monarch. Admiral Fasih BokhariNI(M) HI(M) SI(M) SBt PGAT was a Pakistani admiral who served as the Chief of Naval Staff from 1997 to 1999. He was a well-known pacifist and a prominent political figure as the Chief of Naval Staff from 1997 until his voluntary resignation in 1999,which stemmed from his staunch opposition to the then-Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's instigation of the Kargil War with India,a conflict that Bokhari reportedly saw as an act of inappropriate and uncoordinated aggression from Pakistan and one that subsequently led him into a bitter dispute with Musharraf. Bokhari also served as the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau,a Pakistani anti-corruption agency.
