Delphi Schools, Inc. operates private schools that use the study methods known as Study Technology that was developed by Lafayette Ronald Hubbard. The office of Delphi Schools, Inc. is located on the property of the founding school, The Delphian School, in Yamhill County, Oregon, near Sheridan. [1] [2]

School campuses

The Delphian School is located at 20950 SW Rock Creek Rd., Sheridan, Oregon, and was opened in 1976. It is a boarding and day school. [3] The Delphian School is an accredited member of the Northwest Association of Independent Schools. [4] Delphi Academy of Florida is a K–12 day school located at 1831 Drew St, Clearwater, Florida. [5]

In California, Delphi Academy of Los Angeles was opened in 1980; Delphi Academy of Sacramento was operated from 1980–2004; and Delphi Academy of Santa Monica operated from 2007–2014. [6]

Delphi Academy of Boston operates in Milton, Massachusetts. [7] [8] [9]

Heron Books

Delphi's publishing arm operates under the assumed business name of Heron Books, [10] whose offices are located on the Delphian School campus. [7] It was incorporated in 1973 as the Delphi Foundation and changed to the present name in 1987. [10] Delphi Schools says that its schools teach using "The Delphi Program". The Study Technology teaching method is licensed through Applied Scholastics. Several Delphi schools use the Heron Basics Program of Heron Books for instruction.

Study Technology, also referred to as study tech, is a teaching methodology developed by L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Church of Scientology. Study Technology is used by Scientologists as part of their training, and is also promoted outside the church by the affiliated corporation Applied Scholastics, which presents Study Tech as a secular, universally applicable method to enhance the comprehension of any student, studying any topic. However, the method has many critics, including former teachers, claiming that the "technology" and associated schools are intrinsically linked with religious aspects of Scientology.

Applied Scholastics (APS) is an organization that promotes and licenses the use of study techniques created by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology. Applied Scholastics is operated by the Church of Scientology.

The Association for Better Living and Education (ABLE) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Los Angeles, California, established by the Church of Scientology. It states that it is "dedicated to creating a better future for children and communities." It promotes secular uses of L. Ron Hubbard's works, and has been classified as a "Scientology-related entity". Founded in 1988, ABLE's main office is located at 7065 Hollywood Boulevard, the former headquarters for the Screen Actors Guild.

Jessica Feshbach, also known as Jessica Feshbach Rodriguez and Jessica Davis, is an American former official within the Church of Scientology organization. The daughter of a family with a long tradition in Scientology, she attended The Delphian School in Yamhill County, Oregon, a Scientology school.

The Church of Scientology is a group of interconnected corporate entities and other organizations devoted to the practice, administration and dissemination of Scientology, which is variously defined as a cult, a business, or a new religious movement. The movement has been the subject of a number of controversies, and the Church of Scientology has been described by government inquiries, international parliamentary bodies, scholars, law lords, and numerous superior court judgements as both a dangerous cult and a manipulative profit-making business. In 1979, several executives of the organization were convicted and imprisoned for multiple offenses by a U.S. Federal Court. Timothy Bowles is an American attorney who served as general legal counsel for the Church of Scientology International for eight years. In 1978, he acquired the Beverly Hills Playhouse, where he taught a master class for many years.

Mace-Kingsley Ranch School was a ranch school for children aged 8 to 17 affiliated with the Church of Scientology. The School opened in 1987 and based in Palmdale, California before moving to a property in the Gila Wilderness, New Mexico in the early 1990s. It closed in 2002 and its certificate of incorporation was revoked. The school's curriculum focused heavily on the teachings of Scientology. Students were subjected to pseudo-scientific processes such as the Purification Rundown and daily auditing. A large portion of each day was dedicated to cleaning and general manual labor. The school received criticism over the years for the treatment of students under its care. Students have reported cases of being underfed as well as being beaten, whipped and publicly humiliated as forms of punishment.

Delphian School is a co-ed K–12 private school operated by Delphi Schools. It uses study techniques created by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, known as Study Tech. It is located on a 720-acre campus in unincorporated Yamhill County, Oregon, near Sheridan. Most students live on campus either full-time or five-day. The school also accepts day students; boarders must be at least eight years old, while day students can be as young as five. As of 2024, most of the school's 204 students were in grades 8-12.

COS uses front groups to promote its interests in politics, to make itself appear legitimate, and to recruit. The Times published, "[The church attracts] the unwary through a wide array of front groups in such businesses as publishing, consulting, health care and even remedial education." Many of the groups are founded on pseudoscience, named disingenuously, and underplay their links to Scientology.
