The Hampshire fixture, which was played in Bournemouth, continued the following day, with the Kent team needing to travel from Bournemouth to Canterbury and back again to play the Sunday league fixture, a distance of around 165 miles (266 km) each way. Kent County Cricket Club is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Kent. A club representing the county was first founded in 1842 but Kent teams have played top-class cricket since the early 18th century, and the club has always held first-class status. The current Kent County Cricket Club was formed on 6 December 1870 following the merger of two representative teams. Kent have competed in the County Championship since the official start of the competition in 1890 and have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. The club's limited overs team is called the Kent Spitfires after the Supermarine Spitfire.

Colin Blythe, also known as Charlie Blythe, was an English professional cricketer who played Test cricket for the England cricket team during the early part of the 20th century. Graham Roy Dilley was an English international cricketer, whose main role was as a fast bowler. He played first-class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and Worcestershire County Cricket Clubs, and appeared in 41 Test matches and 36 One Day International (ODIs) for the England cricket team.

Frank Edward Woolley was an English professional cricketer who played for Kent County Cricket Club between 1906 and 1938 and for the England cricket team. A genuine all-rounder, Woolley was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm bowler. He was an outstanding fielder close to the wicket and is the only non wicket-keeper to have held over 1,000 catches in a first-class career, whilst his total number of runs scored is the second highest of all time and his total number of wickets taken the 27th highest.

Frederick Martin, also known as Fred Martin and Nutty Martin, was an English professional cricketer who bowled left-arm medium-pace spin. Martin played first-class cricket between 1885 and 1892, primarily for Kent County Cricket Club, and appeared twice in Test matches for the England cricket team. He was considered one of the best left-arm spin bowlers in the country between 1889 and 1891.

Eldine Ashworth Elderfield Baptiste is an Antiguan former professional cricketer. He played in 10 Test matches – all of which resulted in West Indian victories – and 43 One Day Internationals (ODI) for the West Indies, between 1983 and 1990.

Cecil Wilson was an English county cricketer and Anglican bishop. He was the third missionary Anglican Bishop of Melanesia from 1894 to 1911, and subsequently, the second Bishop of Bunbury from 1918 to 1937.

Derek Gilbert Ufton was an English professional cricketer and footballer, and later a football manager. Playing professionally for Kent County Cricket Club as a wicket-keeper and Charlton Athletic Football Club, Ufton won a single international cap for the England national football team in 1953. He went on to manage Plymouth Argyle. At the time of his death, in March 2021 at the age of 92, he was England's oldest living international footballer.

Tony Charles Middleton is an English cricket coach and a former first-class cricketer. Middleton played for Hampshire from 1984 to 1995, making over 160 appearances across first-class and one-day cricket. Following his retirement in 1995, he has held a variety of coaching roles at Hampshire and as 2024 is the club's batting coach.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sam Northeast</span> English cricketer

Sam Alexander Northeast is an English professional cricketer who plays for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batsman. Northeast made his senior debut in 2007 and until 2017 played for Kent County Cricket Club. He captained the Kent First XI for most of the 2015 season before being formally appointed as club captain in 2016. He captained the side in 2017 before being replaced before the 2018 season after declining to sign a contract extension committing himself to the club in the longer term.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Dick Moore (cricketer)</span> English cricketer

Richard Henry Moore was an English first-class cricketer. Moore debuted as a 17-year-old for Hampshire County Cricket Club in 1931 and made nearly 130 appearances for the county during the 1930s. He was appointed Hampshire captain for 1936 and 1937, succeeding Geoffrey Lowndes. An opening batsman who passed 1,000 runs for the season on three occasions, his best innings of note came in 1937, when he scored 316 runs in a single day against Warwickshire at Bournemouth, which remains as of 2024 the highest individual first-class score for Hampshire. With business commitments taking up more of his time, he relinquished the captaincy to Cecil Paris in 1938, but continued to play for Hampshire less frequently before the start of the Second World War.

Arthur Henry Phebey was an English cricketer who played for Kent County Cricket Club between 1946 and 1961. He played in 327 first-class cricket matches during his career as a right-handed opening batsman.

Simon Graham Hinks is a former English professional cricketer. He played for Kent County Cricket Club and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club between 1982 and 1994, scoring over 8,700 runs in first-class cricket. Since retirement he has coached cricket and worked in sports administration at the University of Bristol.

Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1880 was the tenth season of the English cricket club Derbyshire.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sam Billings</span> English Cricketer

Samuel William Billings is an English professional cricketer. Billings is a right-handed batsman who fields as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Pembury in Kent and has played for Kent County Cricket Club sides since he was eight years old, making his senior debut for the First XI in 2011. In October 2017 he was appointed as the vice-captain of the team before being appointed as captain in January 2018, replacing Sam Northeast. He served as the club's captain until the end of the 2023 season when he resigned, although he retained the captaincy of the club's Twenty20 cricket side.

Howard John Pocock was an English amateur cricketer. He played for Kent County Cricket Club between 1947 and 1949.

Kent County Cricket Club's 1909 season was the twentieth season in which the county club competed in the County Championship. Kent played 30 first-class cricket matches during the season, losing only two matches overall, and won their second championship title. They finished clearly ahead of second place Lancashire in the 1909 County Championship with the previous year's winners, Yorkshire, in third place.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Grant Stewart (cricketer)</span> Italian-Australian cricketer

Grant Stewart is an Italian-Australian professional cricketer who plays for Kent County Cricket Club. He made his first-class cricket debut for Kent in September 2017 in the club's final County Championship match of the season, having signed his first professional contract at the end of August.
