Diamond Wave is the sixth studio album by Japanese recording artist Mai Kuraki. It was released on August 2, 2006.
The album was released in two formats: CD+DVD limited edition and CD only standard edition. [1] On August 11, a limited revamped (cover and booklet) standard edition was released. Diamond Wave is Kuraki's first album to be released in various formats. A limited blog called "Diamond Web" was opened in commemoration of the release. To view the blog two passwords enclosed in both the Diamond Wave album and single were needed. To date this is the last studio album released in Giza Studio.
Diamond Wave debuted on the Oricon albums chart at #3 with 78,228 copies sold. [2] The album charted for a total of 12 weeks. [3] Diamond Wave was the 101st best selling album of 2006. [4]

Mai Kuraki is a Japanese pop and R&B singer, songwriter and record producer. After releasing her US debut single "Baby I Like" in 1999, Kuraki signed with Giza Studio and released her Japanese debut single "Love, Day After Tomorrow" in 1999. In 2000, she released her debut album, Delicious Way, which debuted at number-one and sold over 2.2 million copies in its first week. The album has spawned four top-three singles, "Love, Day After Tomorrow", "Stay by My Side", "Secret of My Heart", and "Never Gonna Give You Up". Eventually, the album sold over 3.5 million copies nationwide and became the best-selling album in Japan in 2000, and has been the ninth best-selling album in Japan of all-time.
"This Is Love" is Hikaru Utada's first Japanese digital single. It was released on May 31, 2006 as a promotional single for her fourth Japanese studio album. "This Is Love" was tied-in as the CM song for a Nissin cup noodle campaign and the opening theme for an anime "Freedom," which was also tied into the Nippon campaign. The digital single reached number one in virtually every online music store in Japan prior to the ULTRA BLUE album's release, including the most used store in Japan, iTunes Japan, as well as OnGen, among others. Utada herself is quoted to have said that this song is about expressing that "Love is like a mix of extremes: anxiety and peace."
