Dianne Prost O'Leary (born 1951) is an American mathematician and computer scientist whose research concerns scientific computing, computational linear algebra, and the history of scientific computing. She is Distinguished University Professor Emerita of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park, [2] and is the author of the book Scientific Computing with Case Studies (SIAM, 2009). [3]
O'Leary was born November 20, 1951, in Chicago. She majored in mathematics at Purdue University, graduating in 1972, and completed her Ph.D. in computer science at Stanford University in 1976. [2] Her dissertation, Hybrid Conjugate Gradient Algorithms, was supervised by Gene H. Golub. [4]
After taking an assistant professorship in mathematics at the University of Michigan, she moved to Maryland in 1978, with a joint appointment in computer science and the Institute for Physical Science and Technology. She also became affiliated with Maryland's applied mathematics program in 1979, and became a member of Maryland's Institute for Advanced Computer Studies in 1985. She became Distinguished University Professor in 2014, the same year that she retired.
From 2009 to 2015 she was editor in chief of the SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications . [2]
The University of Waterloo gave O'Leary an honorary doctorate in 2005. [2] She was named a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery in 2006, "for mentoring activities and contributions to numerical algorithms", [2] [5] and became one of the inaugural Fellows of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) in 2009. [2] [6] In 2008 she was the Sonia Kovalevsky Lecturer of SIAM and the Association for Women in Mathematics. [2] [7]

Jack Joseph Dongarra is an American computer scientist and mathematician. He is the American University Distinguished Professor of Computer Science in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Tennessee. He holds the position of a Distinguished Research Staff member in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Turing Fellowship in the School of Mathematics at the University of Manchester, and is an adjunct professor and teacher in the Computer Science Department at Rice University. He served as a faculty fellow at the Texas A&M University Institute for Advanced Study (2014–2018). Dongarra is the founding director of the Innovative Computing Laboratory at the University of Tennessee. He was the recipient of the Turing Award in 2021.
Michael Thomas Heath is a retired computer scientist who specializes in scientific computing. He is the director of the Center for the Simulation of Advanced Rockets, a Department of Energy-sponsored computing center at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and the former Fulton Watson Copp Professor of Computer Science at UIUC. Heath was inducted as member of the European Academy of Sciences in 2002, a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery in 2000, and a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in 2010. He also received the 2009 Taylor L. Booth Education Award from IEEE. He became an emeritus professor in 2012.

David A. Bader is a Distinguished Professor and Director of the Institute for Data Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
