Dickson Huru (born 10 September 1990) is a Ugandan long-distance runner who competes in cross country running competitions. He has represented his country in the discipline four times at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, sharing the team bronze medal in 2011.
Huru made his international debut in the junior race at the 2007 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where he came 23rd and placed fourth in the team race with Uganda. [1] His first international medal followed the year after at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games as he finished in second place to compatriot Moses Kibet in the 5000 metres. [2] At the 2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championships he improved in the junior race to 17th place, but again the Ugandan team was one place off the medals. [3] He set a series of personal bests on the track in Europe that year, running 3:53.57 minutes for the 1500 metres, 7:53.71 minutes for the 3000 metres and 13:32.28 minutes for the 5000 metres. [4]
Huru made his senior debut at the 2010 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and he came 27th and took was fourth in the team race for a third consecutive time. [5] A 19th place finish at the 2011 senior race brought him his first team medal as he, Stephen Kiprotich, Moses Ndiema Kipsiro and Geofrey Kusuro were the bronze medallists. [6] In July that year he represented Uganda on the track at the 2011 Military World Games, but did not get past the heats of the 5000 m. He was absent all of 2012 and most of the next year, but made a successful return in November 2013 by winning the Cross Internacional de Soria race in Spain. [7]
Priscah Jepleting Cherono, née Ngetich is a Kenyan professional runner who specialises in the 5000 metres and cross-country running. She represented Kenya in the 5000 m at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is the Kenyan record holder over the two miles distance.
Moses Ndiema Kipsiro is a Ugandan long-distance runner who specialises in the 5000 metres. He was the bronze medallist in the event at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics. He represented Uganda at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, coming fourth over 5000 m.
Joseph Ebuya is a Kenyan professional runner who specialises in the 5000 metres and was the 2010 IAAF World Cross Country Championships champion.
Linet Chepkwemoi Masai is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who competes in track and cross country running events. She won her first world title in the 10,000 metres at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics.
Viola Jelagat Kibiwot is a runner from Kenya who specialises in the 1500 metres.
Alemayehu Bezabeh Desta is an Ethiopian-born athlete who represents Spain internationally. He competes in middle- and long-distance running on the track, and also in cross country. His brother, Sisay Bezabeh, is also a professional runner and represents Australia internationally.

Charlotte Purdue is a British long-distance runner who competes in the Marathon and Half Marathon, as well as cross country running for Aldershot, Farnham and District Athletics Club. After winning a number of youth titles at national level, she had her first international success at the European Cross Country Championships, winning medals in the junior races of 2007 and 2008. She was also the best European junior at the World Cross Country Championships those years.
Hitomi Niiya is a Japanese professional long-distance runner who competes in track, cross country running and marathon races. Niiya competed for Japan at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She is a two-time silver medallist at the Asian Athletics Championships and has represented Japan three times at the World Athletics Championships. She represents Team Toyota Industries in national competition.
Dejen Gebremeskel is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who primarily competes in track events. His personal best of 12:46.81 minutes for the 5000 metres ranks him as the fifth fastest of all time for the distance. He was the 5000 m silver medallist at the 2012 London Olympics and took the bronze medal over that distance at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics.
Abera Kuma Lema is an Ethiopian long distance runner, who competes in track, cross country, and road running events. An African junior champion over 5000 m, he won his first senior international medal at the 2010 IAAF World Cross Country Championships.
José Gregorio Peña Trejo is a Venezuelan track and field athlete who specialises in the 3000 metres steeplechase. His personal best for the event is 8:20.87 minutes
Japhet Kipyegon Korir is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in cross country running competitions and the 5000 metres. He was the gold medallist at the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, becoming the youngest ever world cross country champion. He has a personal best of 13:11.44 minutes for the 5000 m track event.
Cleveland Forde, is a Guyanese track runner who specialized in various middle-distance and long-distance disciplines. Forde holds national records for Guyana in the 1500 metres and 5000 metres disciplines. He represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics in 2007, the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2007 and 2008, and the 2008 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.
John Chepkwony Kipkoech is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who competes in the 5000 metres. He represented Kenya in the event at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. He was a silver medallist at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics and a junior team gold medallist at the 2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. His personal best of 12:49.50 minutes ranks him in the top twenty all-time runners for the 5000 m.
Jonathan Muia Ndiku is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in the 3000 metres steeplechase. He has a personal best of 8:07.75 minutes. He was the gold medallist in the event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where he broke the Commonwealth Games record.
Janet Kisa is a Kenyan professional middle- and long-distance runner who competes in track, cross country, and road running events.
Susan Krumins is a Dutch middle- and long-distance runner. She was the 5000 metres bronze medalist at the 2014 European Athletics Championships and also won a 3000 metres bronze at the 2014 IAAF Continental Cup.
Alice Aprot Nawowuna is a Kenyan long-distance runner. She was the gold medallist in the 10,000 metres at the 2015 African Games, where she also won the bronze medal in the 5000 metres. Aprot claimed gold and silver in the 10,000 m at the 2016 and 2018 African Championships in Athletics respectively. She earned the silver medal for the senior women's race at the 2017 World Cross Country Championships.
