Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) is an Indian construction and infrastructure development company based in Bhopal. It was founded by Dilip Suryavanshi in 1987 and was incorporated in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on 12 June 2006. [4] The company is listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) [5] and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) since August 2016. [6] [7] [8] [9]

History

Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) was founded in 1987 in Bhopal by Dilip Suryavanshi as a proprietorship concern called Dilip Builders. The company was incorporated as Dilip Buildcon Private Limited on 12 June 2006 as a private limited company under the Companies Act 1956 with the Registrar of Companies Gwalior. Subsequently, the company took over the business of Dilip Builders, a sole proprietorship concern, in 2007. The company registered as a public limited company in August 2010. In the initial years of its operation, the company focused on commercial and residential building projects in Madhya Pradesh. [10] [11]

As business grew in the early 1990s, the company forayed into other types of construction. The first move was into water sanitation and sewage. [12] [13]

The company also did structural designing and construction in the field of the oil and gas industry. At the end of the 1990s, when the new central government put forward a vision of connecting the country with roads, DBL ventured into road construction starting with a small road project. [14] [15] [16]

From 2012, the company started pursuing bigger road projects across the country. [17] In the meantime, the government came up with the PPP model for roads inviting attention from other industries into the sector. [18] [19] DBL invested in procuring the road building equipment from around the world. [20]

In August 2016, Dilip Buildcon became a publicly-listed company through an initial public offering (IPO), [21] [22] and got listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE). [23]

Operations

Dilip Buildcon undertakes projects on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis. This includes special bridges and tunnel. DBL is a Class A-V Firm, registered with Public Works Department Bhopal and also with the Water Resource Department Madhya Pradesh. [24]

Highways

Dilip Buildcon undertakes projects on National Highways, especially the Expressway. [25] In 2021, Dilip Buildcon's joint venture (JV) entered a pact with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a Rs 1,000-crore highway project in Rajasthan, to be built on the EPC mode. [26] [27]

Metro Rail

Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) on 25 September 2020 launched the first 8.5-meter wide pre-cast segment at the proposed Kendriya Vidyalay metro station for building the elevated viaduct of the Bhopal Metro Rail project. [28]

Mining

DBL received an MDO contract signed in 2018 with Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) for the development and operation of the Pachhwara Central coal mine. DBL bagged another Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) for development and operation of the Siarmal Open Cast Project of Mahanadi Coalfield Ltd. a subsidiary of Coal India Limited for 25 years. Irrigation

For the construction of 2 irrigation projects i.e. Kundaliya Dam at a cost of Rs 3,400 crore and Mohanpura Dam at Rs 3,866 crores, the Madhya Pradesh state government tendered Dilip Buildcon Ltd. [31] Mohanpura Dam at Rajgarh, a project undertaken by Dilip Buildcon, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India. [32]

The Bhadbhut barrage Mega Project, flood protection embankments and associated works across river Narmada near village Bhadbhut of Bharuch District is DBL's expertise of Marine Engineering Construction Skills. This is a joint venture of Dilip Buildcon and HCC as the design and construction contractor. The 1.663 km long causeway-cum-weir barrage will be constructed. It will form a reservoir holding 599 MCM of fresh water. The barrage will have 90 gates. A six-lane bridge will be also constructed on the barrage.

In 2012, IRB acquired Tamil Nadu based BOT road builder MVR Infrastructure and Tollways for 130 crore. The company got the contract of Ganga Expressway, the longest under-construction expressway in Uttar Pradesh.

The Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway, or National Expressway 7 (NE-7), is an under construction 258 km (160 mi) long, 4-lane wide access-controlled expressway between the cities of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka and Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It will run from Hoskote in Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority to Sriperumbudur in Chennai Metropolitan Area. It is planned to allow vehicles to reach 120 km/h (75 mph). The road was designated as a National Expressway on 1 January 2021. The total project value is ₹17,930 crore. The Expressway is expected to be completed before the end of 2025, despite earlier dates announced by the national Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

The Indore Metro is a rapid transit system which is under construction for the city of Indore, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. The total system consists of 11 corridors (lines) covering a distance of 124 kilometres (77 mi). This project will cost approximately 12,000 crore (US$1.5 billion). The cost per km will be 182 crores and total cost is 15,000 crores. The metro system will be elevated, underground and on ground. The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, 8-lane wide under-construction access-controlled expressway connecting India's national capital New Delhi to its financial capital Mumbai. The foundation stone for the project was laid by union minister Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley on 8 March 2019 and is inaugurated by PM Modi. The total project value including the land acquisition cost is around ₹1,00,000 crores .

The Bengaluru–Vijayawada Expressway, also known as Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada (BKV) Expressway and classified as NH-544G, is an under-construction 518 km (322 mi)-long, six-lane access-controlled expressway between the cities of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka and Vijayawada, the second-largest city of Andhra Pradesh. It will pass through 11 districts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh–3 in Karnataka and 8 in Andhra Pradesh. It will start from the existing National Highway 44 (NH-44) at Kodikonda in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, which connects Bengaluru and beyond to the south, pass through the Rayalaseema region and end in National Highway 16 (NH-16) at Addanki in Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh, which connects Vijayawada and eastern India to the north. By joining the existing national highways to link the two cities, the overall length of the expressway is about 624 km (388 mi). It will be operated and maintained by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and will reduce both travel time and distance by 12–13 hours to only 8–9 hours, and from 630 km to 518 km. It will be built at a cost of about 14,000 crore (US$1.8 billion), which was earlier slated at 19,320 crore (US$2.4 billion). It is also named as the 'BKV Expressway', as it will bypass Kadapa and its district.
