Gorakhpur Link Expressway is an under-construction 91 km (57 mi) long, 4-lane wide (expandable to 6) expressway in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It will connect Jaitpur village on NH-27 in Gorakhpur district with Salarpur village on Purvanchal Expressway in Azamgarh district. [2] Salarpur village is situated near Kalwari Bagh interchange (NH-135A).
It was launched in 2018 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and land acquisition was started in February 2019 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. [3] The total project value of Gorakhpur Link Expressway, including the land acquisition cost is around ₹ 5,876 crores. [2] [4]
The Gorakhpur Link Expressway will connect Jaitpur village on Gorakhpur Bypass in Gorakhpur district with Salarpur village (south of Jalalpur) on Purvanchal Expressway in Azamgarh district. [2] It will pass through 4 districts of Uttar Pradesh i.e. Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar and Azamgarh.
The construction cost (excluding the cost of Land) is around ₹3,024 crores. Around 1,095 hectares (2,710 acres) of land will be acquired for this project. [5] [6] 2 Toll Plaza, 3 ramp plaza, 7 Flyovers, 7 major bridges, 27 minor bridges, 16 vehicular-underpasses (VUP), 50 Light VUP and 35 pedestrian underpasses will also be constructed.

Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in India with a population of nearly 240 million people. The economy of Uttar Pradesh is the fifth largest among states in India. At current prices, the gross state domestic product (GSDP) of Uttar Pradesh is estimated to be ₹24.39 lakh crore (US$310 billion) in 2023–24. Merchandise exports from Uttar Pradesh reached US$21.03 billion in FY22.
Ganga Expressway is an under-construction, 594 km (369 mi) long, 6-lane wide greenfield expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is being constructed in two phases. Phase-1 will connect Bijauli village on NH-334 in Meerut district with Judapur Dandu village on NH-19 in Prayagraj district, while Phase-2 will see the extension of both sides of the expressway: from Prayagraj to Ballia and from Meerut to Haridwar. It is being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) on the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) Model.
Expressways are the highest class of roads in India. In July 2023, the total length of expressways in India was 5,579 km (3,467 mi), with 8,366 km (5,198 mi) under construction. These are controlled-access highways where entrance and exits are controlled by the use of cloverleaf or trumpet or grade separated interchanges that are incorporated into the design of the expressway and designed for maximum speed of 120 km/h, whereas National highways are flyover access or tolled, where entrance and exit is through the side of the flyover, at each intersection of highway with road, flyovers are provided to bypass the city/town/village traffic and these highways are designed for speed of 100 km/h. Some roads are not access-controlled expressways but are still named expressways, such as the Biju Expressway, these are actually state highways that are not declared by the central government as an Expressway, hence not an Expressway or National Highway.
The Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) or Kundli–Ghaziabad–Palwal Expressway is a 135 km (84 mi) long, 6-lane wide expressway passing through the states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in India. The expressway starts from the Western Peripheral Expressway at Kundli, Sonipat, passing through Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Noida districts in UP and Faridabad district in Haryana before rejoining the Western Peripheral Expressway near Dholagarh, Palwal. Eastern Peripheral Expressway along with Western Peripheral Expressway completes the largest Ring Road around Delhi. The Eastern Peripheral Expressway was declared as National Expressway 2 (NE-2) in March 2006.
The Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway, or National Expressway 7 (NE-7), is an under construction 258 km (160 mi) long, 4-lane wide access-controlled expressway between the cities of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka and Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It will run from Hoskote in Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority to Sriperumbudur in Chennai Metropolitan Area. It is planned to allow vehicles to reach 120 km/h (75 mph). The road was designated as a National Expressway on 1 January 2021. The total project value is ₹17,930 crore. The Expressway is expected to be completed before the end of 2025, despite earlier dates announced by the national Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is an authority set up in 2007 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh to develop expressway projects in the state. The headquarters of UPEIDA is located at Paryatan Bhawan in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
The Agra–Lucknow Expressway is a 302 km long, 6-lane wide access-controlled expressway constructed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) to reduce traffic in already congested roads and to reduce pollution and carbon footprint. The expressway reduced the distance between the cities of Agra and Lucknow in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and is presently one of the India's longest operational expressways.
Baramadpur is a village in Akhand Nagar block of Kadipur tehsil in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India. As of 2011, it has a population of 3,251 people, in 442 households. It has one primary school and one primary health centre and it hosts both a regular market and a weekly haat. It is part of the nyaya panchayat of Sajampur.
Delhi–Meerut Expressway or National Expressway 3 is India's widest 96 km long controlled-access expressway, connecting Delhi with Meerut via Dasna in Ghaziabad in India. The 8 lanes old stretch of National Highway 9 (NH-9) up to Dasna is widened to 14 lanes. The fourth phase of the expressway is built on a new alignment from Dasna to Meerut – a six-lane stretch joining Meerut bypass. The 28 km (17 mi) stretch between Nizamuddin Bridge and Dasna is one of the most congested areas in the NCR. The total project cost is estimated to be between ₹8,000–10,000 crores.
Purvanchal Expressway is a 340.8 km long, 6-lane wide access-controlled expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The expressway connects Chand Saray village near Gosainganj in Lucknow district with Haydaria village on NH-31 in Ghazipur district. It is developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The Purvanchal Expressway has a 3.2 km long airstrip at Akhalkiri Karwat village near Kurebhar in Sultanpur district for emergency landing of aircraft. The construction work was started by the UPEIDA on 10 October 2018 and was inaugurated and opened to the public on 16 November 2021.
Bundelkhand Expressway is a 296 km-long (184 mi), four-lane wide access-controlled expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It connects Gonda village on NH-35 in Chitrakoot district with Kudrail village on Agra–Lucknow Expressway in Etawah district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid down the foundation stone of Bundelkhand Expressway on 29 February 2020 in Gonda village, Chitrakoot, and the expressway was inaugurated on 16 July 2022. The expressway will boost tourism to Chitrakoot Dham.
The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, 8-lane wide under-construction access-controlled expressway connecting India's national capital New Delhi to its financial capital Mumbai. The foundation stone for the project was laid by union minister Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley on 8 March 2019 and is inaugurated by PM Modi. The total project value including the land acquisition cost is around ₹1,00,000 crores .
The Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway or National Expressway 6 (NE-6), is an under construction 63 km long, 6-lane wide(expandable to 8) access controlled expressway in India's Uttar Pradesh. The expressway will connect Lucknow and Kanpur and will run parallel to NH-27 which connects Kanpur and Lucknow with a distance of about 85 km (53 mi) between existing and proposed parallel roads. The expressway will start from its junction with NH-27 near Shaheed Path in South Lucknow connecting Bani, Kantha, Amarsas and terminating at its junction with NH No. 27 near Kanpur. It will intersect Ganga Expressway in Unnao district.
The DND–Faridabad–KMP Expressway, formally known as NH-148NA is a 59 km long, 6-lane wide access-controlled expressway in Delhi NCR, India. It connects the junction of DND Flyway and Ring Road at Maharani Bagh in Delhi with KMP Expressway at Khalilpur, Nuh district in Haryana. The NH-148NA is a spur (branch) of Delhi–Mumbai Expressway project. This expressway will have an additional 31 km long spur from Sector-65, Faridabad bypass to Jewar Airport.
Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) is an Indian construction and infrastructure development company based in Bhopal. It was founded by Dilip Suryavanshi in 1987 and was incorporated in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on 12 June 2006. The company is listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) since August 2016.
Varanasi–Kolkata Expressway, also known as Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata Expressway, and NH-319B, is an approved 610 km (380 mi) long, six-lane, greenfield access-controlled expressway, which will connect the spiritual city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh with the capital of West Bengal, Kolkata, through the capital of Jharkhand, Ranchi. It will run almost parallel to the Grand Trunk Road or the Asian Highway 1, and will pass through four states–Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The expressway is a part of Bharatmala Pariyojana, and it will reduce both travel time and distance, from 12-14 hours to only 6-7 hours, and from 690 km (430 mi) to 610 km (380 mi). It will start from Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh, and will terminate near Uluberia, Howrah district, West Bengal.
Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway is an approved 519 km (322 mi) long, four-lane access-controlled greenfield expressway, which will connect the city of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh with the city of Siliguri in West Bengal, India. It will run almost parallel to the India–Nepal border, and will pass through three states–Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. The expressway is a part of Bharatmala Pariyojana, and it will reduce both travel time and distance, from 14-15 hours only 8-9 hours, and from 640 km (400 mi) to 519 km (322 mi). As it will pass through close to the India–Nepal border, the project is of strategic importance for the country, as it will also benefit Nepal. It will be built at a cost of ₹ 32,000 crore, and will be completed by 2025, which was earlier scheduled at 2028/29. In the future, it will be extended to the capital of Assam and the largest city of Northeast India, Guwahati.
Atal Progress-Way, also known as Chambal Expressway, is an approved 404 km (251 mi) long, six-lane access-controlled greenfield expressway, which will connect the city of Kota in Rajasthan with the city of Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, through the famous city of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. It will pass through three states–Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The expressway is a part of Bharatmala Pariyojana. The government's aim is to develop the economically backward regions of Chambal division and Gwalior division of Madhya Pradesh through the expressway. The expressway will reduce both travel time and distance, from 10-11 hours at present, to only 6-7 hours, and from 490 km (300 mi) to 404 km (251 mi). It will be built at a cost of approximately ₹ 23,700 crore, which was earlier slated at ₹ 20,000 crore. The expressway has been named as Atal Progress-Way after the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and also because he was born in Gwalior, nearby which the expressway will pass.
Surat–Chennai Expressway is an under-construction, 1,271 km (790 mi) long, 4/6-lanes. access-controlled expressway, which will connect the second largest city of Gujarat, Surat, with the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, in India. It will pass through six states: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. It will be operated and maintained by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and will reduce both travel time and distance from around 35 hours to around 18 hours, and from approximately 1,570 km (980 mi) to 1,271 km (790 mi). It will be built at a cost of ₹ 45,000 crore (~US$5.5 billion), which was earlier slated at ₹ 50,000 crore. It will be the second longest expressway in India, after the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway.
The Bengaluru–Vijayawada Expressway, also known as Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada (BKV) Expressway and classified as NH-544G, is an under-construction 518 km (322 mi)-long, six-lane access-controlled expressway between the cities of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka and Vijayawada, the second-largest city of Andhra Pradesh. It will pass through 11 districts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh–3 in Karnataka and 8 in Andhra Pradesh. It will start from the existing National Highway 44 (NH-44) at Kodikonda in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, which connects Bengaluru and beyond to the south, pass through the Rayalaseema region and end in National Highway 16 (NH-16) at Addanki in Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh, which connects Vijayawada and eastern India to the north. By joining the existing national highways to link the two cities, the overall length of the expressway is about 624 km (388 mi). It will be operated and maintained by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and will reduce both travel time and distance by 12–13 hours to only 8–9 hours, and from 630 km to 518 km. It will be built at a cost of about ₹14,000 crore (US$1.8 billion), which was earlier slated at ₹19,320 crore (US$2.4 billion). It is also named as the 'BKV Expressway', as it will bypass Kadapa and its district.
