Double Dare (Heartbeat) is the third studio album by Nigerian R&B and Afro-soul artist Darey. It was released on 28 February 2011 by Soul Muzik. The album is a double album, with the first disc, Heart focusing on mid-tempo highlife songs fused with R&B, and the second disc, Beat leaning towards up-tempo electronic dance tracks and pop music. [1] Heart has no features, while Beat features guest appearances from Timaya, Mo'Cheddah, Chamillionaire, 9ice, P-Square, Jesse Jagz and Password with production work handled by notable producers such as Del B, eLDee, Wayne McNeish, Don Jazzy, Password and Cobhams Asuquo. Singles

The first single, "Style Na Style (Remix)", was released on 23 August 2009. The song is a remix of "Style Na Style" featuring 9ice off Darey's previous album Undareyted (2009). It features 9ice, Password, and Jesse Jagz, and was produced by Password. [3] The second single, "Stroke Me", was released on 7 December 2009 and produced by Don Jazzy and co-produced by Del B and Password. [4] The third and fourth singles, "Don't Let Me Know" and "The Way You Are", were released simultaneously on 21 October 2010 and was produced by Darey and Cobhams Asuquo. [5] The fifth single, "Sisi Eko" and sixth single, "Ba Ni Kidi", were also released simultaneously on 9 December 2010 and produced by Cobhams Asuquo and Darey. [6] The seventh single is the remix "The Way You Are" and features American rapper Chamillionaire. The remix was released on 22 February 2011 in Nigeria and 10 June 2011 in the UK and produced by Cobhams Asuquo, Del B, and Darey. [7]

Critical reception

Jazz of 360nobs described Double Dare as a showcase of Darey’s versatility and mastery, balancing soulful ballads on Heart with dance tracks on Beat. The review highlighted his vocal ability and songwriting, praising standout tracks like “Pillow,” “Ba Ni Kidi,” and “Close,” and noted that the album caters to diverse audiences. Rating the project 7.8/10, Jazz concluded, “Darey is without a doubt the ‘King of Nigerian R&B,’” and recommended owning both volumes to fully appreciate his artistry. [8]

Ayomide Tayo in his review for Nigerian Entertainment Today praised Double Dare for its creativity and versatility, calling it a bold release that "proves that he is the true King of R&B". He highlighted the dual nature of the album, describing Heart as "an astounding collection of songs that move at an even pace" and Beat as delivering "dope pop and dance tracks" with Darey adapting seamlessly to diverse styles and collaborations. His debut studio album Everybody Loves Ice Prince was released in 2011. It was supported by three singles: "Oleku", "Superstar" and "Juju". In 2013, Ice Prince released Fire of Zamani as his second studio album. The album contained the singles "Aboki", "More", "Gimme Dat" and "I Swear". On 1 July 2015, Ice Prince was announced as the vice president of Chocolate City. He held the position until he left the label in 2016. The fifth edition of the Hip Hop World Awards took place on May 29, 2010, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. The ceremony was conducted without a host. Wande Coal was the biggest winner of the night with five plaques, including Artiste of the Year. Don Jazzy won the Producer of the Year award. Hip hop duo Skuki won the Next Rated category. Da Grin's C.E.O won for Best Rap Album in a posthumous fashion. He was also honored by General Pype during the singer's performance.

The 2012 Nigeria Entertainment Awards was the 7th edition of the ceremony. The event was held on September 2, 2012 at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, New York City. The event was hosted by Funke Akindele and Ayo Makun. Winners included Wizkid, Davido, Don Jazzy and Tineh Tempah.

The 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards was the 6th edition of the ceremony to reward outstanding contribution to Nigerian entertainment industry. It was held at Sharp Theater, Symphony Space, New York City on September 5, 2011. It was hosted by Funke Akindele and Julius Agwu.

Patrick Mathias, popularly known as Password, is a Nigerian record producer, singer and songwriter. Password has continued to work in the Nigerian music and movie industry and as a producer and songwriter.

MI 2: The Movie is the second studio album by Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga. It was released by Chocolate City November 23, 2010. The album features collaborations with 2face Idibia, Bola Adebisi, Brymo, Flavour, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, Julius Ceaser, Femi Odukoya, Loose Kaynon, Praiz, Ruby Gyang, Timaya and Waje. M.I addresses a wide array of topics on the project, including corruption, poor education, the Niger Delta crisis, shooting, looting, and the sexual objectification of women. <i>Versus</i> (9ice album) 2011 studio album by 9ice

Versus, also known by the longer title Versus: The Battle Line Is Drawn, is the fourth studio album by Nigerian indigenous artist 9ice. It was released on 7 December 2011 by Alapomeji Ancestral Records, alongside Bashorun Gaa. The album features a blend of Afrobeat and hip hop. The album was titled Versus because many artists are featured on the album, in which, 9ice is "versing" them, when, really, he's featuring them on his songs. Notable artists were featured on the album, including 2Baba, Banky W., Duncan Mighty, Seriki, Mode 9, V.I.P, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Dagrin, M.I, Ajayi Brovas, Kwaw Kese, Timaya, Kwam 1, and Wizboyy. Naked is the fourth studio album by Nigerian R&B and Afro-soul singer Darey. It was released on 13 October 2015 through Livespot Entertainment. Featuring a blend of Afrobeat, Afropop, jùjú, R&B, highlife, and soul, the album features guest appearances from singer Aṣa, rapper Olamide, and the South African band Soweto Gospel Choir. Production was primarily handled by Oscar Heman-Ackah, with other production from Vtek, Cobhams Asuquo, and Darey himself serving as the executive producer.
