Andrew Michael Parks (born December 3, 1991) is a former American rapper, record producer, and songwriter from Metro Detroit, Michigan. [1] [2] Parks first gained national recognition for his music career in the early 2010s, when his music was featured on networks and music publications such as MTV, [3] [4] ESPN, [5] [6] Freeform, [7] [8] BBC 1Xtra, [9] XXL Mag, [10] Shade 45, Billboard Magazine, [11] and Vibe Magazine. Early life and education

Parks was born on December 3, 1991, in Royal Oak, Michigan and grew up living in Troy, Michigan. He attended Avondale School District and graduated from Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, Michigan. [1] [14] After high school, Parks attended Oakland University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. [15] [16] In 2019, he enrolled at University of Michigan Law School and is currently studying to get a Juris Doctor degree. [16]

Parks' parents are both of Greek descent, and he is a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Troy, Michigan. [1]

Music career

Parks began his musical career at age 10, under the moniker Drew32. [17] He later released music under the name Drew Parks. [13] He writes, produces, and records nearly all of his songs himself. His music began to gain recognition in 2011, when he performed in the Fender Lodge at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, [18] [19] [20] and in Austin, Texas at the 2011 SXSW Music Conference. [18]

In October 2011, Parks performed as the opening act on J. Cole's Cole World Tour at the Royal Oak Music Theatre, [21] and in March 2012, Parks was one of 18 US artists selected by Billboard magazine to compete in the 2012 Billboard Music Awards Battle of the Bands competition. [11]

In April 2012, Parks performed as the opening act at Grizzlypalooza, the spring concert event at Oakland University, which also featured performances by Gym Class Heroes, Kirko Bangz, and New Boyz. [22] He released a mixtape in April 2012 entitled Label Me (hosted by DJ Skee), which featured collaborations with Jon Connor, Royce Da 5'9", Shorty da Prince, and Slim the Mobster. The lead single from Label Me, "I Am King," received airplay on Sirius XM station Shade 45, and its music video aired on MTVU. [23] [24] Television network ESPN included several of Parks' songs on its sports debate TV show, First Take throughout 2012 and 2013. [5] [6]

In August 2013, Parks performed as an opening act for Kendrick Lamar at The Fillmore Detroit as a part of Bud Light's 50|50|1 concert series. [25] [26]

In June 2014, BBC Radio 1Xtra selected 32 hip-hop artists worldwide to represent each of their relative countries by performing a freestyle video for 1Xtra's coverage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Parks was chosen to represent Greece, and his World Cup Freestyle was featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra throughout June and July 2014. [27] [28] Later that year, Parks performed alongside DJ Head at the official Eminem and Rihanna Monster Tour After Party at The Fillmore Detroit. [29]

In August 2016, he performed alongside Fat Joe and Nelly at WSNX-FM's "Party in the Park" concert in Grand Rapids, Michigan [30]

Television network Freeform (formerly ABC Family) included Parks' song, "We Ain't Stoppin" in episodes of its shows Pretty Little Liars, Famous in Love, and The Fosters [7] [8]

In 2017, Detroit Pistons Center Andre Drummond collaborated with Drew Parks on two songs, "Lit," and "Nu Vibe," which were later released on Andre Drummond's 2018 debut music album entitled Fyi. [31] [32]

Parks is no longer actively making music. His last official release was his 2016 album, Away We Go, which featured the single "We Love Them," a collaboration with Fatman Scoop. [33]

John David Jackson, known professionally as Fabolous, is an American rapper. Raised in Brooklyn, he first gained recognition while still a senior in high school, when he performed live on American music executive DJ Clue's radio show, then on Hot 97. Jackson subsequently signed to DJ Clue's Desert Storm imprint, and later secured a distribution deal with major-label, Elektra. Jackson gained prominence with his first release, Ghetto Fabolous (2001), which spawned the hit singles "Can't Deny It" and "Young'n ". His second release was 2003's Street Dreams, which was supported by two US top 10 singles, "Can't Let You Go" and "Into You".

Obie Trice III is an American rapper. He was signed to fellow Detroit rapper Eminem's Shady Records in 2000, where he released the albums Cheers (2003) and Second Round's on Me (2006). Trice formed his own record label, Black Market Entertainment, upon leaving Shady. Trice then released three more albums: Bottoms Up (2012), The Hangover (2015) and The Fifth (2019).

Ryan Daniel Montgomery, known professionally as Royce da 5'9", is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Best known for his association with fellow Detroit rapper Eminem, they became acquainted in 1997 and formed the hip hop duo, Bad Meets Evil the following year. Their 2011 single, "Lighters" peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and would precede their debut extended play (EP), Hell: The Sequel (2011). The song and it's parent EP, of which debuted atop the Billboard 200, remain Montgomery's most commercially successful recordings to date.

Amil Kahala Whitehead is an American former rapper and singer. Based in New York City, she signed to Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records label imprint in 1997. The following year, she appeared alongside Ja Rule on his single "Can I Get A..." for the Rush Hour film soundtrack.

Philip Brandon Martin, better known as Bishop Lamont, is an American rapper from Carson, California. He was signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment record label and released one project under the label, eventually leaving in 2010.

Grand Hustle Records, also known as Hustle Gang Music, is an Atlanta, Georgia–based hip hop record label, founded in 2003, by American rapper T.I. and his manager Jason Geter. The label was distributed by Atlantic Records until December 2012, and has since operated as an independent record label. Its roster has included acts such as 8Ball & MJG, B.o.B, Killer Mike, Young Dro, DJ Drama, Meek Mill, Chip, Travis Scott, and Trae tha Truth, the latter of whom also served as the label's vice president. The label also houses a roster of record producers, which has included Lil' C, Mars and Nard & B.

Scott Keeney, better known by his stage name DJ Skee, is an American artist, television host, radio personality, and entrepreneur. Skee rose to fame as the first DJ to discover and play superstar artists on the radio including Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Akon, Lorde, and Lady Gaga amongst many others.

Charles Eddie-Lee Hamilton, Jr. is an American rapper. After signing to the independent record label Demevolist Music Group, Hamilton released a series of mixtapes titled The Hamiltonization Process, leading up to the independent release of his debut studio album, The Pink Lavalamp in December 2008. During that year, he signed an undisclosed multi-million dollar recording contract with Interscope Records, and subsequently featured on the cover of the XXL's 2009 Freshmen Class issue the following year.

The R.E.D. Album is the fourth studio album by American rapper Game. It was released on August 23, 2011, by DGC Records and Interscope Records, which serves as Game's first release under DGC and his first album for Interscope since 2005's The Documentary. His previous two, Doctor's Advocate (2006) and LAX (2008), were released under Interscope's subsidiary imprint, Geffen Records.

Mike Jaggerr is a rapper, producer, and songwriter and former band member of the hip-hop group Bassline. Mike was born in New York, raised in Wilmington, Delaware and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. Mike is also a graduate from Florida’s Full Sail University and studied film.

He has worked with various artists such as Freeway, Mac Miller, Joell Ortiz, Big K.R.I.T., Method Man, Apathy, Prodigy, Bun B, Tech N9ne, Jarren Benton, and Kid Ink. In 2013 he and his label, Homegrown Music, signed a deal with E1 Music. He then released Homegrown, another EP, in November 2012. Webster released his debut studio album Chemically Imbalanced on October 27, 2014.

"Show Me" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Kid Ink. The song was released on September 17, 2013, by Tha Alumni Music Group, 88 Classic and RCA Records as the lead single from his second studio album, My Own Lane (2014). The song, produced by DJ Mustard and Mike Free, features a hook by American recording artist Chris Brown. The song peaked at number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 23 on the UK Singles Chart.

<i>Crenshaw</i> (mixtape) 2013 mixtape by Nipsey Hussle

Crenshaw is the eighth official mixtape by American rapper Nipsey Hussle. The mixtape was released as a free digital download on October 8, 2013, on mixtape hosting websites. It was also released in a limited first edition of 1,000 copies for $100 each including other incentives via his All Money In record label. The mixtape features production by The Futuristiks, 1500 or Nothin', 9th Wonder, DJ Dahi, Mike Free, Ralo, Wizzo and Jiggy Hendrix, among others. Guest appearances on the mixtape came from Rick Ross, Dom Kennedy, Slim Thug, James Fauntleroy II, Z-Ro, Skeme and Sade among others. The mixtape was supported by the singles "Checc Me Out" featuring Dom Kennedy and Cobby Supreme, "U See Us", "The Weather" featuring Rick Ross, "If U Were Mine" featuring Fauntleroy, and "1 of 1".

Jon Kevin Freeman Jr., better known by his stage name Jon Connor, is an American rapper and record producer. Connor has released various mixtapes and an album effort during his career including the Jay-Z inspired The Blue Album, and the Eminem inspired The People's Rapper LP. His debut studio album, Unconscious State was released in 2013. Shortly thereafter, he was signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment from 2013 to 2019, where he did not release an album. In 2015, he garnered notoriety for being featured on Dr. Dre's album Compton (2015) as well as The Game's album The Documentary 2.5 (2015).
