Dshamilja Kaiser is a German operatic mezzo-soprano. She has been performing at the Oper Bonn since 2017.

Life and career

Born in Wuppertal, Kaiser studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Mechthild Böhme and Caroline Thomas. Already during her studies she sang in university productions of Handel and Rossini operas and made a guest appearance as Lisetta in Haydn's Il mondo della luna at the Städtische Bühnen Münster. She won singing competitions and was a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Richard-Wagner-Stiftung Bayreuth  [ de ]. In July 2007, she completed her studies with the artistic maturity examination - as Carmen in a university performance at the Landestheater Detmold. A permanent engagement at the Theater Bielefeld followed, where she sang Scarlatti, Mozart and Glinka, among others, as well as guest appearances at the Theater Münster, the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin, the Landestheater Linz and the Aalto Theatre in Essen. Since the 2009/10 season; the mezzo-soprano has been part of the ensemble of the Graz Opera. She has sung and continues to sing a number of leading roles there, especially rival heroines or trouser roles - from Baroque and Mozart to bel canto and Richard Wagner - and works there with renowned directors and conductors, including Stefan Herheim and Stefan Soltesz. At the Wiener Festwochen 2012 Kaiser made a guest appearance as Annina in Verdi's La traviata , in July 2013 at Operklosterneuburg as Frau Reich in Nicolai's The Merry Wives of Windsor , in January 2014 she made her debut at the Volksoper Wien in the title role of Bizet's Carmen . She subsequently also sang Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan tutte at the Haus am Gürtel. In summer 2016, she made her debut at the Bregenz Festival as Gertrude in a long-lost Hamlet opera from 1865 - in Franco Faccio's Amleto . Her partners were Pavel Černoch in the title role, Iulia Maria Dan as Ophelia and Claudio Sgura as Claudio. It was directed by Olivier Tambosi and conducted by Paolo Carignani. [4] [5]

In the concert hall, Kaiser sings both concert opera performances and large choral-orchestral works. In November 2013, she gave a guest performance with the Grazer Philharmoniker  [ de ] conducted by Dirk Kaftan at the Wiener Musikverein, singing the song cycle Les nuits d'été by Hector Berlioz after poems by Théophile Gautier. In February 2015, in a concert performance by the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi conducted by Gaetano d'Espinosa in Milan, she took on the role of soprano. – Judit in Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle . Cheryl Studer American dramatic soprano

Cheryl Studer is an American dramatic soprano who has sung at many of the world's foremost opera houses. Studer has performed more than eighty roles ranging from the dramatic repertoire to roles more commonly associated with lyric sopranos and coloratura sopranos, and, in her late stage, mezzo-sopranos. She has performed early operas such as Legrenzi's Il Giustino as well as new works, creating the role of Gora in the premiere of Reimann's Medea at the Vienna State Opera. She recorded Lieder by Mussorgsky, Bach's Christmas Oratorio with Peter Schreier and Beethoven's Missa solemnis with Nikolaus Harnoncourt. From 2015, she has focused on concert singing.

Renate Behle

Renate Behle is an Austrian operatic mezzo-soprano and soprano who made an international career, based in Germany. She was professor of voice at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg from 2000 to 2010.

Lilian Benningsen was an Austrian operatic mezzo-soprano and contralto. She made an international career based at the Bavarian State Opera for decades, where she first appeared as Eboli in Verdi's Don Carlos. She created several roles, such as Carolina in Henze's Elegie für junge Liebende at the 1961 Schwetzingen Festival. Her recordings include both operas and concerts.

Tichina Vaughn is an American operatic dramatic mezzo-soprano active internationally in opera, concert halls and recitals. Starting at the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera, her American career expanded into Europe, as member of the permanent ensembles of the Semperoper in Dresden and the Stuttgart Opera, where she was awarded the title of Kammersängerin in 2006. She has been a regular at the Arena di Verona and other major theaters worldwide, singing a wide repertoire span, with a "voluminous and dark mezzo" voice the dramatic Verdi roles such as Amneris in Aida, Eboli in Don Carlo, Azucena in Il trovatore and Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera, Wagner's Ortrud Lohengrin, Venus Tannhäuser, Fricka Die Walküre, Waltraute in Götterdämmerung and Strauss, Herodias in Salome and Klytemnestra in Elektra. Mihoko Fujimura is a Japanese operatic mezzo-soprano who made an international career based in Europe. She was recognized internationally after her 2002 debut at the Bayreuth Festival as Fricka in Wagner's Ring cycle. In concert, she performed in Verdi's Requiem and Mahler's Resurrection Symphony. In 2020, she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera.

Iulia Maria Dan is a Romanian operatic soprano. She was a member of the ensemble of the Hamburg State Opera from 2015 to 2018, and then moved on to the Semperoper in Dresden. She appeared at international opera houses and festivals in leading roles such as Mozart's Fiordiligi and Massenet's Manon, but also in unusual repertoire including Ofelia in the revival of Franco Faccio's Amleto.

Linda Watson is an American dramatic soprano and academic voice teacher. She made her career based in Germany where she studied and began as a mezzo-soprano at the Theater Aachen. She has performed worldwide, including at the Vienna State Opera, La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera and the Bayreuth Festival. She focused on dramatic roles by Wagner, including Brünnhilde and Isolde, and Strauss, including Ariadne and the Dyer's Wife. She was awarded the title Kammersängerin in Germany in 2004 and in Austria in 2020.
