GEMS Dubai American Academy (DAA) is a private international school in the Al Barsha suburb of Dubai, United Arab Emirates operated by GEMS Education. [1] The school follows an American curriculum and offers International Baccalaureate program, Advanced Placement courses, and college preparatory courses. [2]

Campus

In 2017 Dubai American Academy merged with GEMS Nations Academy and moved into its campus. The 70,000-square-metre (750,000 sq ft) campus includes a full provision for athletics and performing arts, with an Olympic-size swimming pool, 400-metre (1,300 ft) running track, a large gymnasium, playing fields and shaded playgrounds, theaters, and dedicated studios for music and arts for all grade levels. [3]

Students

The total student body has 2,983 students enrolled. Over 100 nationalities are represented within the student body, with the biggest numbers coming from the US (22.07%), Canada (9.49%), India (6.84%), S. Korea (5.96%), and Egypt (4.09%). There is a 51:49 male to female ratio.

Rochester Institute of Technology of Dubai is a satellite campus of Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, USA, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The college is located in the Dubai Silicon Oasis and started offering part-time graduate courses in Fall 2008. In 2009, the university began its full-time graduate program. RIT Dubai's first graduating class was in 2010, with the graduation ceremony taking place in Rochester, NY. In 2010, a full-time undergraduate program was started as part of the university's planned expansion. In the fall of 2011, RIT Dubai moved its campus to a new premises to accommodate the growing student body. Provision of education in the UAE began shortly after the establishment of the federation with the inception of the first university in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates University. Since then, the country has progressed with efforts of ensuring high literacy rates, modern programs and women's share in education. It works on improving its youths education which is why the agenda 2021 has been set. The UAE currently devotes approximately 25 percent of total federal government spending to education. As of 2019, the overall literacy rate is 96%.

The Philippine School or known in abbreviation as TPS is a school in Dubai catering for Filipinos, covering grade levels from kindergarten through the 12th grade. The Philippine School was established in February of 2008 and opened its first academic year on September the following year. In 2010, it relocated to Al Rashidiya and then in Academic Year 2016-2017, It moved to its current campus in Al Muhaisnah. Today, the students of the TPS had brought honor to the school by participating in academic competitions, contests and inter-school activities.
