Sports in Brazil are those that are widely practiced and popular in the country, as well as others which originated there or have some cultural significance. Brazilians are heavily involved in sports. Football is the most popular sport in Brazil. Other than football, sports like volleyball, mixed martial arts, basketball, tennis, and motor sports, especially Formula One, enjoy high levels of popularity. Great players like Neymar have devoted their life to sports and became a celebrity.

Holding dual citizenship between Brazil and the United States, Freitas currently resides in Rio de Janeiro, where she sails and trains for the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club under her personal coach and mentor Lucas Souza. As of September 2013, Freitas is ranked as one of the top ten sailors in the world for the sailboard class by the International Sailing Federation, following her successes at the South American and World Championships in her home nation.

This was the nation's sixteenth appearance at the Summer Olympics, except for two different editions. Samuel Albrecht is a Brazilian sailor who specializes in both two-person dinghy (470) and mixed multihull classes. He has been selected to compete for the Brazilian sailing team at the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing seventeenth along with his partner Fabio Pillar in the 470 regatta. After missing out on the Olympic selection in 2012, Albrecht decided to turn his attention and eventually teamed up with Olympic bronze medalist Isabel Swan on the newly instated Nacra 17 catamaran for a chance to compete at his possible second Games in Rio de Janeiro. As of April 2015, Albrecht is ranked forty-fourth in the world for the mixed multihull class by the International Sailing Federation.

She graduated with first-class honors in International Business Management from Burapha University. Her father is an influencer for sailing; she began sailing when she was 8. In the earlier she hated sailing but later when she did better she changed her mindset: " I started to think that anything is possible if you work hard at it."
Henrique Duarte Haddad is a Brazilian sailor. He and Bruno Bethlem placed 23rd in the men's 470 event at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Eduardo Couto is a Brazilian former sailor, who specialized in the Laser Radial and Finn classes. He won a gold medal in the Laser Radial boat at the class-associated 2005 Worlds in Fortaleza, before switching to a heavyweight division on his only Olympic trip to Beijing 2008. Couto is a member of the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club.
