Electra Peak is a mountain, broadly in the Tuolumne Meadows area of Yosemite National Park, if far, from the road. [2] Electra Peak is the 14th highest mountain in Yosemite National Park. [3]

Electra Peak may have been named for a play called Electra. [4]

Electra Peak is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of Rodgers Peak, and straddles the boundary of Yosemite National Park and Ansel Adams Wilderness. Banner Peak and Mount Ritter are to the east, the Mount Maclure-Mount Lyell-Rodgers Peak complex is to the north, and the Lyell Fork Merced River drainage is to the west. [2] It is also near Matterhorn Peak, Foerster Peak, and Mount Ansel Adams. [5] Both Mount Ritter and Banner Peak are also near.

From most directions, Electra Peak is a class 2 climb. [2]

The Ansel Adams Wilderness is a wilderness area in the Sierra Nevada of California, USA. The wilderness spans 231,533 acres (93,698 ha): 33.9% of which is in the Inyo National Forest, 65.8% is in the Sierra National Forest, and the remaining 0.3% covers nearly all of Devils Postpile National Monument. Mount Ritter mountain

Mount Ritter is the highest mountain in Madera County, California, in the Western United States, at an elevation of 13,149 feet (4,008 m). It is also the highest and most prominent peak of its namesake, the Ritter Range, a subrange of the Sierra Nevada in the Ansel Adams Wilderness of the Inyo and Sierra National Forests. Mount Ritter is the 15th highest mountain peak in California with at least 500 meters of topographic prominence.

Mount Lyell (California) mountain in California

Mount Lyell is the highest point in Yosemite National Park, at 13,114 feet (3,997 m). It is located at the southeast end of the Cathedral Range, 1.2 miles (1.9 km) northwest of Rodgers Peak. The peak as well as nearby Lyell Canyon is named after Charles Lyell, a well-known 19th century geologist. The peak had one of the last remaining glaciers in Yosemite, Lyell Glacier. The Lyell Glacier is currently considered to be a permanent ice field, not a living glacier. Mount Lyell divides the Tuolumne River watershed to the north, the Merced to the west, and the Rush Creek drainage in the Mono Lake Basin to the southeast.

Mount Ansel Adams mountain in United States of America

Mount Ansel Adams is a peak in the Sierra Nevada of California. At an elevation of 11,766 ft. the summit is in Yosemite National Park near the park's eastern boundary. It lies 0.8 miles (1.3 km) northeast of Foerster Peak and 1.3 miles (2.1 km) west-southwest of Electra Peak at the head of the Lyell Fork of the Merced River. It was named in 1985 for Ansel Adams, the preeminent landscape photographer, conservationist, and member of the Board of Directors of the Sierra Club, a role he maintained for 37 years.

Banner Peak is the second tallest peak in the Ritter Range of California's Sierra Nevada. The mountain is 12,942 feet (3,945 m) tall, and there are several glaciers on its slopes. It lies within the boundaries of the Ansel Adams Wilderness; at the foot of the peak lie Garnet Lake, Lake Ediza, and the famous Thousand Island Lake. Banner Peak is near the town of Mammoth Lakes; from there, climbers can hike to the foot of the mountain where various routes reach the summit, the easiest of which is a class 2 from the west end of Thousand Island Lake and then the saddle between Banner Peak and the slightly taller Mount Ritter. Other nearby lakes include Lake Catherine and Shadow Lake.

Mount Maclure is the nearest neighbor to Mount Lyell, the highest point in Yosemite National Park. Mount Maclure is the fifth-highest mountain of Yosemite. Mount Maclure is located at the southeast end of the Cathedral Range, about 0.6 miles (0.97 km) northwest of Lyell. The summit is on the boundary between Madera and Tuolumne counties which is also the boundary between the park and the Ansel Adams Wilderness. It was named in honor of William Maclure, a pioneer in American geology who produced the first geological maps of the United States. Maclure Glacier, one of the last remaining glaciers in Yosemite, is situated on the mountain's northern flank.
