The Electric Boys are a Swedish band founded in Sweden in 1987 playing funky hard rock with roots in the 70s groove rock and 60s pop and psychedelia. [3]
They were formed by Conny Bloom (real surname: Blomqvist) (guitar/vocals) and Andy Christell (bass). Originally a duo, they signed for Polygram and released the single "All Lips 'n Hips" in 1987. [5] [6] This early version of what would become perhaps the band's best-known hit also appeared in America on the soundtrack to the movie Feds . The band then added second guitarist Franco Santunione and drummer Niclas Sigevall. [3]
In 1989, the band's debut album Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride, including “All Lips ’N’ Hips” was a success in Europe, and they picked up a strong following in Britain, [7] where, as well as headlining small clubs, they supported Thunder the following year. The album was also released in America on Atco, including five new recorded tracks produced by Bob Rock, and five tracks from the domestic version. Their critically acclaimed debut album spawned the self-produced Billboard Top 20 single, “All Lips ’N’ Hips” that got them heavy rotation on MTV. [8] [9]
However, the follow-up album Groovus Maximus did not emerge until 1992. [10] The Groovus Maximus album was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios in London. [10] By the end of an American tour to promote it supporting Mr. Big, the band parted ways with members Santunione and Sigevall, [10] and changed record deals, pursuing a heavier sound. Outgoing members were replaced by former Mogg drummer Thomas Broman and Martin Thomander (second guitar), and this line up released the band's third album, Freewheelin' on the Music For Nations label in Britain, also recorded at the Abbey Road Studios.The band opened up for Metallica in Sweden and performed several other shows before disbanding, In October 16th 1994 the band made their last concert and then split up. [10] In 2005, founders Bloom and Christell both joined Hanoi Rocks.
The original lineup of the band (Bloom, Christell, Santunione, and Sigevall) reformed in 2009 and released And Them Boys Done Swang in 2011. [3]
2014 saw the release of another album, Starflight United. The next album, called The Ghost Ward Diaries was released in November 2018 and featured drummer Jolle Atlagic as well as original drummer Niclas Sigevall. [11]
They released the album Ups!de Down in 2021 on Mighty Music, featuring a returning Martin Thomander on guitar, again replacing Santunione. Sigevall who lives in Los Angeles didn't play on the album. [12]
In September 2023 Electric Boys released "Grand Explosivos", their fifth album since the reunion in 2009. [13] [14]
Parliament-Funkadelic is an American music collective of rotating musicians headed by George Clinton, primarily consisting of the funk bands Parliament and Funkadelic, both active since the 1960s. Their eclectic style has drawn on psychedelia, outlandish fashion, and surreal humor. Funk metal is a subgenre of funk rock and alternative metal that infuses heavy metal music with elements of funk and punk rock. Funk metal was part of the alternative metal movement, and has been described as a "brief but extremely media-hyped stylistic fad".

Hanoi Rocks were a Finnish rock band formed in 1979. They were the first Finnish band to chart in the UK and they were also popular in Japan. By 1984, the band was considered to be on the verge of an international breakthrough when they released their first major label album for CBS and headed for their first US tour. The tour was however cut short when their drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley died in a drunk driving incident with Vince Neil behind the wheel in December 1984. The band never recovered from the loss and announced their split in June 1985. After their initial break-up, lead singer Michael Monroe became the first Finnish artist to chart on the American Billboard 200 in 1989. Monroe and original lead guitarist Andy McCoy reunited in 2001 with a new lineup that lasted until 2009. Although musically closer to traditional rock n' roll and punk, Hanoi Rocks has been cited as a major influence in the glam metal genre for bands such as Guns N' Roses, Skid Row and Poison.
Ugly Kid Joe is an American hard rock band from Isla Vista, California, formed in 1989. The band's name spoofs the glam metal band Pretty Boy Floyd's name.
Cinderella was an American rock band formed in the suburbs of Philadelphia in 1983. The band emerged in the mid-1980s with a series of multi-platinum studio albums and hit singles whose music videos received heavy MTV rotation and popularity. Cinderella initially had a glam metal sound throughout the late 1980s before shifting into a more blues rock-based sound during the early to mid 1990s.
Tesla is an American rock band from Sacramento, California. In late 1981, bassist Brian Wheat and guitarist Frank Hannon formed a band named City Kidd, which evolved into Tesla. By 1984, vocalist Jeff Keith, guitarist Tommy Skeoch, and drummer Troy Luccketta had joined the band, forming their classic lineup that appeared on all of the albums and live shows during their initial run. The band adopted the Tesla moniker shortly before recording their first album, as another band with a name similar to City Kidd already existed.
Richard Dale Kotzen Jr. is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. As a solo artist, Kotzen has back catalogue of more than 20 album releases. He was a member of glam metal band Poison from 1991 to 1993, Mr. Big from 1999 to 2002, and since 2012, has been the frontman of the band The Winery Dogs. Kotzen was signed to California-based Shrapnel Records from 1988 to 1991, and again from 1995 to 1997.

Another Hostile Takeover is the seventh studio album by the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks, released in 2005. This was the second album, of the "reborn" Hanoi Rocks of the new millennium. When it was released, critics praised the album, but fan reactions were mixed.
Easy Action is a Swedish band from Stockholm that was first formed in 1981 by Pelle Almgren (ex-Warhead), Henrik "2 meter" Jermsten (ex-Stoodes), Bosse Belsen and Björne Fröberg. Bosse and Björne quit and were replaced by Ola "Skox" Andersson and drummer Urban "Ubbe" Sundbaum. Stranded Rekords became interested and released the single "Honcho Bongo". It did not sell well and when the second single, "Om jag vore kung", also failed the band split up. Skox and 2 meter formed Psyhedelic Mongo and Pelle Almgren started writing songs instead.
Conny Bloom is the stage name for Ulf Conny Blomqvist, who is a Swedish guitarist and songwriter. He is best known as the frontman for the funk metal band, Electric Boys. Bloom also served a stint as a guitarist of the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks and in Silver Ginger 5.
Andy "A. C." Christell is a Swedish bass guitarist known for playing in glam rock outfit Electric Boys and for Hanoi Rocks. He is a friend of Conny Bloom and the two played together growing up. Christell was recruited into Hanoi Rocks in 2004, shortly after Bloom. Although Christell had considered giving up the bass prior to this, Bloom and former bandmate Andy McCoy were able to persuade him otherwise. His passions include collecting Ed Wood and Vincent Price DVDs.
Treat is a Swedish hard rock band from Stockholm. Formed in 1981 by singer Robert Ernlund and guitarist Anders "Gary" Wikström, the band had national and as well as international success with songs like "Get You on the Run", "World of Promises", "Party All Over" and "Ready for the Taking" in the second half of the 1980s.

Angels Never Die is the fourth solo album of the German female hard rock singer Doro Pesch. The album was released in February 1993 and was produced by Jack Ponti and Vic Pepe. The two producers had worked with Alice Cooper on the hit single "Hey Stoopid" and had produced minor glam metal bands like Surgin' and Baton Rouge. The sound and musical style of Angels Never Die is very similar to what can be heard on the second Doro solo album, alternating heavy rock tracks with large choruses and power ballads, in the vein of the declining glam metal that had dominated the American rock charts for the first part of the decade.
"Fashion" is a single by the Finnish rock and glam punk band Hanoi Rocks from the album Street Poetry. The single was released on 16 May 2007 in Finland and Europe and on 21 June in Japan. The single rose to number one on the Finnish singles list on 23 May.
"This One's for Rock'n'Roll" is single by the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks, first released as downloadable song. The song rose to the top 10 most-downloaded songs in Finland on 16 August 2007 and spent a week in the top 10.
Buried Alive is a concert music video by the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks. The video was recorded at the Tavastia Club in Helsinki of the band's final show. This is also the band's last release. The DVD spent eight weeks at number 1 on Finland's DVD charts.
