Dilshad Karim Elita, [1] better known as Elita Karim, is a Bangladeshi singer, journalist, versatile performer, anchor and voice artist. [2] [3] She is the vocalist of Raaga.

Early life

Karim was born on 4 September 1982. [4] She graduated in English literature from North South University. [5]

Career

In 2001, Karim released her first song in a band mixed album "Amar Prithibi" (lit.'My world'). In 2009, she released a song entitled "Ontohin" with singer Mahadi Faisal. On 24 May 2015 her first solo studio album Elita was released. [6] Karim made her debut as an actor in a serial Mukim Brothers which was broadcast on Channel i based on Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's story, written and directed by Ashfaque Nipun. Her acting in the drama was praised. She is working as a journalist in a Bangladeshi English daily named The Daily Star .

In 2021, Karim earned Humphrey Fellowship at Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in Arizona State University. [7] [8]

Personal life

Karim married Ashfaque Nipun on 29 May 2015. [9] Her brother Imrul Karim Emil is also a popular singer in Bangladesh. [10] He is the vocalist of the Bangladeshi pop rock band Shunno.

Padma Patar Jol is a 2015 Bangladeshi Bengali language historical romantic drama film written by Latiful Islam Shibli and directed by Tonmoy Tansen. The film is produced by Sheikh Asifur Rahman, as his production company Tripod Films funded the project. The plot is based on a British colonial era story. It stars Mamnun Hasan Emon, Bidya Sinha Saha Mim, Tariq Anam Khan and Amit Hasan in lead roles with Chitralekha Guho, Nima Rahman and Nipun Akter appearing in supporting roles. The film was released on 18 July 2015.

<i>Oggatonama</i> 2016 film

Oggatonama is a 2016 Bangladeshi drama film directed and written by Tauquir Ahmed. It was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film stars Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Mosharraf Karim, Nipun Akter, Shatabdi Wadud, and several others. Oggatonama was released on 19 August 2016 in Bangladesh by Impress Telefilm. It is about a Bangladeshi migrant who dies after illegally entering the United Arab Emirates with a fake passport. The Bangladesh police receive the wrong corpse.
