Ashfaque Nipun is a Bangladeshi filmmaker, screenwriter and actor best known for directing Mohanagar. He also directed Mukim Brothers, Ei Shohore, Landphone Er Dingulite Prem, Alpona Kajol, Sonali Danar Chil, Ms. Shuily, Mukh O Mukhosh Er Golpo, Victim and Eti Maa. [1] [2]

Nipun wrote the screenplays for the films Dondo Shomash (2017) and Ei Shohore (2019). Successful television programs, Mohanagar (2021) and Sabrina (2022), were both directed by him.

Early life

Ashfaque Nipun was born and raised in Chittagong, Bangladesh. His father was an expatriate working as an electrical engineer in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Career

In 2002, Ashfaque Nipun joined a workshop on filmmaking hosted by Anisul Haque and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki at Chittagong Film Centre. [3] Later on, he moved to Dhaka from Chittagong to begin a career in entertainment industry. Nipun started his career as assistant director to Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. Nipun made his television debut in 2006, in the drama "2 In 1" as both a director and an actor. In 2007, he acted on Uposhonghar directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. [4] In 2010, his television series Mukim Brothers aired on Channel i. [5] On 15 January 2021, his web film Koshtoneer premiered on Hoichoi. [6] Five months later, on 15 June 2021, Mohanagar premiered on Hoichoi. [7] [8]

On September 16, 2024, Nipun declined an appointment to the Bangladesh Film Censor Board, announcing his decision in a Facebook post. Nipun has previously voiced concerns about the existing censor board system, which he cited as the reason for turning down the offer. [9]

Personal life

Ashfaque Nipun is married to Elita Karim. The couple first met in 2010 during the premiere of Mukim Brothers. The couple were married in May 2015. [10]

Nipun prefers to work with the taboo and sensitive subjects of the society. [11]

No Bed of Roses is a 2017 Bangladeshi-Indian drama film written and directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. It was produced by Abdul Aziz, Himanshu Dhanuka and Irrfan Khan under the banner of Jaaz Multimedia and Eskay Movies along with Irrfan Khan Films. It stars Irrfan Khan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Rokeya Prachy and Parno Mittra. The story builds up around the members of two families discovering the finer fabric of love when the headman of a family dies. The theme is that death does not always take things away: Sometimes it gives back. Something Like an Autobiography is a 2023 Bangladeshi film directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. It is a part of the Ministry of Love 12-film anthology film series for Bangladeshi streaming platform Chorki. The title of the film, borrowed from Akira Kurosawa's book of same name, resonates with events that question the boundary between reality and fiction from the plot that is presumed by Variety to be inspired from Farooki and his wife Nusrat Imrose Tisha's personal lives. The film is produced by Redoan Rony and co-produced by Anna Katchko, former Film Bazaar chief Nina Lath, Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Farooki. It is co-written by Farooki and Tisha. It marks Farooki's on-screen debut.

Himel Ashraf is a Bangladeshi director, screenwriter and producer. Best known for his film Priyotoma (2023), which became the highest grossing Bangladeshi film of all time.

Ministry of Love is a project by Bangladeshi OTT platform Chorki to produce 12 love movies of 12 film directors. In every film, there will be a shadow of love in the personal life of the makers. Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is the co-producer of the project. Films will be released in Chorki in phases between 2023 and 2024.
