Ella Onojuvwevwo (born 25 March 2005) is a Nigerian sprinter. [1]

Early life

In November 2022, she agreed to join Louisiana State University in the United States. [2]

Career

In 2021, she won gold as part of the women’s 4x400m relay and mixed 4x400m relay at the 2021 World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi. [3] [4]

She was a silver medalist at the 2022 African Championships in the mixed 4x400m relay in Mauritius and also won bronze at the championships in the women's 4x400m relay. [5] [6] She was part of the Nigerian team that competed in the 400 metres and the 4x400m relay at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, in which they qualified for the final and finished sixth.

She ran for Nigeria as part of the 4x400m relay team at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. [7]

In April 2024, she lowered his personal best over 400 metres to 51.32 seconds in Florida. [8]

She competed for Nigeria at the 2024 World Athletics Relays in Nassau, Bahamas. [9] With a time of 3:12.87, the Nigerian Mixed 4x400m team of Onojuvwevwo, Samuel Ogazi, Chidi Okezie and Esther Joseph set a new Nigerian national record and African Continental record at the event on 5 May 2024. [10]

The following weekend she lowered her personal best to 50.57 seconds at the SEC championships in Florida. The time met the 2024 Olympic qualifying standard and made her the fastest Nigerian woman since Falilat Ogunkoya ran 50.50s in 2001, and placed her fifth on the Nigerian all-time list. [11]

Regina George Grause is an American-born Nigerian sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. She represented Nigeria at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was the silver medallist at the African Championships in 2012.

Patience Okon George is a Nigerian sprinter. She competed in the 400 metres event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China and also at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. George is a two-time African Championships bronze medallist in the individual 400 metres event. She is also a three-time Nigerian national champion in the 400 metres.

Matthew Boling is an American track and field athlete specializing in the sprints and long jump. He won four gold medals at the 2019 Pan American U20 Championships in the 100 m, 200 m, 4 × 100 m relay and 4 × 400 m relay, and helped set world under-20 records in both of the relay races for the United States. He also ran in the semi-final for the American 4 × 400 m relay team at the 2018 World U20 Championships that went on to earn silver in the final. Boling would later go on to win a gold medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in the mixed 4 x 400 m relay, and would help set a world record for the event in the process.

Favour Chukwuka Ofili is a Nigerian track and field sprinter. She is the 2019 African Games silver medallist in the 400 metres. Ofili won silver for the 200 metres at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
