The current ambassador of Egypt to the United Kingdom is Sherif Kamel.

History

There have been several protests outside the embassy in recent years: in 2011 during the protests against Hosni Mubarak, [2] in 2013 following the violent clashes in Cairo between supporters and opponents of Mohammed Morsi [3] and also in 2013 there was a protest against the rise of sexual attacks against women in Egypt. [4]

Residence

The residence of the Egyptian ambassador is housed at Bute House (not to be confused with the government building of the same name), a Grade II listed [5] building located at 75 South Audley Street and named after John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute. [6] The building's first occupant was John Stuart, 1st Marquess of Bute, while its first Egyptian occupant was Aziz Ezzat Pasha, then Minister Plenipotentary, and Baheya Mansour Yegen, a granddaughter of Isma'il Pasha of Egypt and niece of Fuad I.
