Emotions is a compilation album by country pop singer Juice Newton. It was released by Pair Records in 1994 and consists of 20 tracks taken from five of the six albums Newton recorded for RCA.
Juice Newton began her recording career with RCA Records in 1975 as the lead singer and a guitar player for the band Juice Newton & Silver Spur. Her two albums with the label – Juice Newton & Silver Spur and After the Dust Settles – met with little success and the label dropped her band. [1] Newton then moved to Capitol Records and eventually made her "breakthrough" in 1981 with Juice , an album that reach number 22 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 16 on the Canadian Top 50 album chart. [2] [3] The album gave Newton three hit singles, beginning with "Angel of the Morning" which peaked at number four on the pop charts and number 22 on the country charts. [4] [1] Her second single from the album, "Queen of Hearts", reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 14 on the country charts. [1] The final single from Juice, "The Sweetest Thing (I've Ever Known)", peaked at number one on the country chart and number seven on the pop chart. [1]
Newton followed up Juice with Quiet Lies (1982), another hit album that reached number 20 on the Billboard 200. [2] This album also had three hit singles released from its track lineup. The first, "Love's Been a Little Bit Hard on Me", reached #7 on the Billboard pop chart, #30 on the country chart, and #4 on the AC chart. [5] The second, "Break It to Me Gently", hit the pop chart at #11, AC #1, and the country chart at #2. [5] It also won her the Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Performance, Female. [6] The final single from Quiet Lies was "Heart of the Night". It reached #4 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart and #25 on the Hot 100. [7]
Newton's next album, Dirty Looks (1983), was not as successful as Juice and Quiet Lies. However, it sold well enough in Canada to be certified Gold on October 1, 1983, by the Canadian Music Industry. [8] The three singles released from this album were "Tell Her No", "Dirty Looks", and "Stranger at My Door". The first two peaked on the pop chart at, respectively, #27 and #90. The third peaked on the country chart at #45. [9]
In 1984 Newton returned to RCA and moved more into country music with the release of Can't Wait All Night . [1] Her next album, Old Flame , peaked at number 12 on the Billboard album chart. [10] "You Make Me Want to Make You Mine" was the album's lead-off single and went to number one on the Billboard Country chart. It was also her first top ten hit in three years. [10] This was followed by "Hurt" which also went to number one on Billboard's chart. "Old Flame" and "Cheap Love", the next two singles to be released, peaked at number five and number nine, respectively. "What Can I Do with My Heart", the album's final single release was written by Newton's long-time collaborator Otha Young and also peaked at number nine. [10] "Both to Each Other (Friends & Lovers)", a duet by Newton and Eddie Rabbitt, was released as a single in July 1985 and peaked at number one. This song was not included in the original release of Old Flame but was added to CD reissues. [10]
Emotion (1987) was the last of Newton's albums to appear on Billboard's Top Country album chart and peaked at number 59. [11] The album had two single releases. "First Time Caller" peaked at number 24 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart while "Tell Me True" peaked at number 8 on the same chart. [12] Also featured on the album are "Emotions" and "'Til You Cry". After one more album, Ain't Gonna Cry (1989), Newton abandoned recording and concentrated on raising her children and performing in nightclubs. [1]
Emotions was released on February 7, 1994, by Pair Records, a budget label that specialized in compilations released as double albums with music licensed from various labels. [13] [14] For this CD Pair licensed 20 songs from five of Newton's RCA albums. Thus none of the hits from her Capitol releases are included. Two song's from her debut album, Juice Newton & Silver Spur (1975) are included along with three from her second release, After the Dust Settles . [15] [16] The largest number of songs came from Old Flame with a total of seven songs. [17] Three songs were derived from Can't Wait All Night and four from the similar-named Emotion . [18] [19]

Judy Kay "Juice" Newton is an American pop and country singer, songwriter, and musician. To date, Newton has received five Grammy Award nominations in the Pop and Country Best Female Vocalist categories - winning once in 1983 - as well as an ACM Award for Top New Female Artist and two Billboard Female Album Artist of the Year awards. Newton's other awards include a People's Choice Award for "Best Female Vocalist" and the Australian Music Media's "Number One International Country Artist."
"The Sweetest Thing " is a country-pop song written by Otha Young for Juice Newton in the mid-1970s. Newton was known for charting hits on the Hot 100, AC, and Hot Country charts - and this song has the distinction of being the only single of hers to reach the top 10 on all three of those charts, peaking at #1 on two of them.
Quiet Lies is a 1982 album by American pop-country star Juice Newton. It reached #20 on the Billboard pop chart and includes three major hits, "Love's Been a Little Bit Hard on Me", "Break It to Me Gently" and "Heart of the Night". Quiet Lies sold more than 900,000 copies in the United States in 1982 and was re-issued on CD in 1990 and 2006.
"Break It to Me Gently" is a pop song written by blues musician Joe Seneca with lyrics by Diane Lampert. Both Brenda Lee and Juice Newton met with considerable success with their versions of the song.

The Trouble with Angels is the tenth solo studio album by country pop singer Juice Newton. It was released by River North Records in 1998. Newton's previous studio album had been Ain't Gonna Cry (1989). After the release of that album she spent several years performing on concert tours and in night clubs. The Trouble With Angels marked her return to studio recording after nine years.

Well Kept Secret is the first solo album and fourth album overall by country pop singer Juice Newton. Her first three albums – Juice Newton and Silver Spur (1975) and After the Dust Settles (1976) for RCA Records, and Come to Me for Capitol (1977) – were credited to the group Juice Newton and Silver Spur. Well Kept Secret was released by Capitol in 1978 and is Newton's first album as a solo artist. The album marked Newton's most rock-oriented record up to that time and features five songs written by her long-time collaborator Otha Young. Other songs on the album include cover versions of Bruce Channel's 1961 hit "Hey! Baby" and the Holland–Dozier–Holland song, "A Love Like Yours ", which was originally recorded in 1963 by Martha and the Vandellas as the B-side to their hit single "Heat Wave". Newton's rendition of "Hey! Baby" was the only single released from Well Kept Secret. Neither charted, prompting rock critic Jim Worbois to note: "The title of this album seems to apply to her career as much as anything. She was still a couple years away from any substantial success. Newton seems to be without direction on this record and, as such, is trying some harder-edged material."
Greatest Hits is the ninth album and first greatest hits collection by country pop singer Juice Newton. It was originally released by Capitol Records in 1984 with ten tracks taken from her albums Juice, Quiet Lies, and Dirty Looks. It was reissued in 1986 in an expanded 15-track edition titled Juice Newton's Greatest Hits . The album became a best seller and has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Duets: Friends & Memories is an album by country pop singer Juice Newton. It was released in 2010 by Fuel Records and features Newton singing popular tunes from the 1960s to the 1980s, all as duets with other famous performers. Her collaborators include Gary Morris, Frankie Valli, Randy Meisner, Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell, Gary Morris, Dan Seals, Melissa Manchester, and Eddie Money. The original CD release of the album contained 10 songs. A later edition featuring two extra tracks is available only from iTunes.
American Girl is the eleventh solo studio album by country pop singer Juice Newton It was released by Renaissance Records in 1999. Following the release of her 1989 album Ain't Gonna Cry, Newton had concentrated largely on concert performing until the release of The Trouble With Angels in 1998. However, that album was made up largely of new renditions of songs she had recorded in the past. Thus American Girl marked her first recording of original material in twelve years.

It was released by RCA Records in 1989 and was Newton's final album for the label as well as her last album for several years. Though no singles were released to stores, the promotional single, "When Love Comes Around The Bend", peaked at number 40 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart on June 17, 1989. The album also contains Newton's cover version of "Then He Kissed Me", a top ten hit for The Crystals in 1963.
Every Road Leads Back to You is a live album and concert video by country pop singer Juice Newton. It was released as both a DVD and two-disc CD by Image Entertainment in 2002. The concert consists of Newton and her band performing many of her hits along with new songs. As a bonus four new studio recordings are included on the second disc of the CD release. The DVD contains these songs as audio-only tracks and also includes some interviews with Newton and her band members.
The Ultimate Hits Collection is a compilation album by country pop singer Juice Newton. It was released by Fuel Records in 2011. All ten tracks from Newton's 1998 album The Trouble With Angels were included in this release along with ten other recordings from various other Newton albums and one new track. An iTunes edition added two more tracks.
Anthology is a compilation album by country pop singer Juice Newton. It was originally released by Renaissance Records on October 13, 1998. The album covers her career from 1975 to 1989 and features 19 songs taken from her albums Juice Newton & Silver Spur, Juice, Quiet Lies, Can't Wait All Night, Old Flame, Emotion, and Ain't Gonna Cry. However, it includes the 1975 take of "The Sweetest Thing " from the first RCA album, not the 1981 hit version from Juice.
