Enakta Leiringei (English: When You're Near Me) is a 2017 Indian Meitei language film directed by Manoranjan Longjam. [1] [2] It stars Kaiku Rajkumar and Soma Laishram in the lead roles. [3] Enakta Leiringei got Best Feature Film award at the 11th Manipur State Film Awards 2018. [4] It was released at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound, on 28 October 2017. [5] It had its regular theatrical screenings at Usha Cinema, Paona Bazar in July 2018.

Synopsis

Khaba and Thoinu met on their journey to Jiribam, and the series of events that followed during the journey changed their lives forever.

Production

The role of Khaba in the film was initially offered to Gurumayum Bonny, but due to his tight schedule, he rejected the offer. The shooting of the film took more than a year to complete due to certain social and political issues in Manipur. [6]

Promotions

Enakta Leiringei was promoted in the Saturday Night Show of Manung Hutna, Impact TV, hosted by Raj Nongthombam on 23 September 2017, ahead of its release at MSFDS, Imphal. [7]

Accolades

Enakta Leiringei won many awards at the 11th Manipur State Film Awards 2018, including the Best Feature Film award. [8] [9] [10]

Soundtrack

Jimbo Ningombam composed the soundtrack for the film and Anil Longjam, M. K. Binodini Devi and Jimbo Ningombam wrote the lyrics. The songs are titled Enakta Leiringei, [11] Karamba Jugki [12] and Etaa. [13]

Rajkumar Kaiku is an Indian actor who appears in Manipuri films. He has appeared in over 400 Manipuri films. He contested the 2019 parliamentary election in the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha Constituency as an independent candidate. In February 2022, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2023, he left the BJP after serving as a primary member. Some of his notable films are Nongmatang, Ta-Tomba The Great, Imagi Laman Singamdre and Enakta Leiringei.

It is based on the 1992 theatrical play of Kamakhya Sangeet Mandal of the same title.

Nungshi Feijei is a 2015 Indian Meitei language film directed by Chou-En-Lai and produced by Ab Atom. The film features Gurumayum Bonny, Khaba, Mukabala (Loya), Soma Laishram, Biju Ningombam and Ithoi Oinam in the lead roles. The story of the film was written by Nanao and screenplay by Chaiba. The film is a remake of the 2013 Tollywood (Telugu) film Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde. Nungshi Feijei was released at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT), Imphal, on 7 December 2015. A sequel to the film titled Nungshi Feijei 2 was released in October 2016.

Shumang Kumhei, also known as Shumang Leela, is a Meitei traditional form of theatre, usually performed in Manipur, North East India. The theatre is arranged in the form of open air from four sides. The roles are all played by male actors, some dressed as beautiful ladies. The role of male characters are played by female artists in case of female theatre groups. This traditional theatre form was prevalent since the time of monarchical rule in Manipur. But the proper form of Shumang Leela had its inception in 1895 A.D.

The film was premiered at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) on 13 November 2021. It was the opening film (fiction) at the Festival of Cinemas of Manipur 2022, a 15-day long multi-lingual film festival organised by MSFDS in April 2022.

She is best known for being the first Indian to represent India at the Miss International Queen for Transgender 2016 organised in Pattaya, Thailand.
