Endwell is an American melodic hardcore band from Queens, New York City, formed in 2003. They have released one independent EP, one album on Victory Records; and one EP and two albums via Mediaskare Records.

History

Formation to Homeland Insecurity (2003–2007)

Endwell formed in Queens in 2003 and started gaining popularity and experience through local shows. The band independently recorded and released their first EP titled The Missing Pieces in 2005 and began touring the country. In June 2004, they entered Excess dB Entertainment's Hellfest Battle of the Bands contest, hiding their New York-based location because the entry was limited to New Jersey bands. [1] Nevertheless, Endwell was one of nine bands that won the contest and were given a playing slot on one of Hellfest 2004's smaller stage. [2] At Hellfest 2004, the band was noticed by Bayside's Anthony Raneri. Bayside was signed to Victory Records and suggested to Endwell that they should attempt to get signed to the label. [3] Members of Endwell grew up listening to various Victory bands including Earth Crisis and Hatebreed. [4]

Victory Records owner Tony Brummel agreed to let Endwell display their talent on stage in order to decide if the band was a good fit for the label. The show was to be played in Chicago, so Endwell had to drive there with all their gear from New York. On the way to the show, their van got hit while driving by a truck causing the van to flip several times and ejecting their lead singer, [3] who spent a few weeks in the hospital. The rest of the band was only hospitalized for a few days with minor injuries. Endwell recovered a few months later and played the show for Victory Records, signing with the label shortly after. [4]

Endwell began to write and record songs for their debut album, Homeland Insecurity , in California with Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach, Evanescence, New Found Glory). Lead guitarist Dan Puglisi discussed the production of the new album:

"The album is all over the board. We came up with songs that sound like nothing we've ever done before, including some fast, energetic stuff really that makes you want to take a breather between songs. All of the songs were written to be played live. There are no filler or album-only tracks here. If we couldn't pull them off live, it didn't make the album." [4]

The album was released in October 2006, and the band toured heavily in support of it. Although they did not headline, they opened for acts such as Comeback Kid, It Dies Today, and As Blood Runs Black.

New lineup and Revenge is a Healthy Motive (2008)

After almost two years of touring, Endwell hoped to start working on their follow up to Homeland Insecurity but ran into several speed bumps. The first issue was an inconsistent lineup. Several members left, and replacements would only stay with the band for a few shows and nothing seemed permanent. The second issue being that Victory Records decided to drop Endwell's contract with the label leaving the band without a way to release their music. [5] Details about the new EP Revenge is a Healthy Motive were given out as early as January 2008, and news about working on a follow up album to Homeland Insecurity was released even earlier. The band posted several demo tracks on their MySpace page and several live recordings of new material on YouTube, but progress was slow with new members coming and going. In early May 2008, Endwell announced they had signed to Mediaskare Records/Century Media Records and set May 27, 2008, as the release date for their EP.

Revenge is a Healthy Motive departed from the band's original pop punk/hardcore punk mix, and focused more on hardcore. The band also changed their lyrical style, in reaction to the current state of the band. The new direction of the album was said to be "hard emotionally and musically," [6] and that while working on the album, the band felt "like [they] did when [they] started playing hardcore when [they] were little kids." [6] Shortly after their previous album was released, Endwell "[was] sick of it, and nobody wanted to play the songs [from Homeland Insecurity]." [6]

Endwell was preparing to tour in support of their new EP alongside Emmure and On Broken Wings on a string of shows dubbed the "Mosh Lives Tour," [6] however, Endwell was kicked off of the tour before it started due to a T-shirt depicting a severed bulldog head on the back. The bulldog was intended to be a comical reference to the logo of their former label that they were kicked out of, Victory Records, not cruelty against animals. [7]

Consequences (2009)

Endwell released their second studio album Consequences in April 2009 through Mediaskare Records.

Punishment (2011–present)

On April 26, 2011, Endwell released their second album on Mediaskare records titled Punishment. They claimed to have taken a black metal influence and mixed it in with their already hardcore sound. Produced by band members Danny Pupplo & Sean Murphy, the record was tracked at Undercity Recording in North Hollywood, California between July 28 and August 26. It was mixed by Steve Evetts (Hatebreed, Every Time I Die, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Poison the Well) and mastered by Alan Douches.

After their last European tour, Matt Rogers left Endwell and joined Deez Nuts, where as members Mike Sciulara and Pieter VanDenBerg departed and became permanent members of This Is Hell, leaving the band with the two core members, vocalist Sean Murphy and guitarist Danny Pupplo.

This Is Hell (band) American hardcore punk band

This Is Hell are an American hardcore punk band from Long Island, New York. The band is known for extensive touring and high energy concerts. The band has released five studio albums and five EPs.

Full Blown Chaos is a metalcore band from Floral Park, Queens, New York. According to the band, their whole direction "is to keep a wide range of music, not to necessarily pigeonhole ourselves into metal or hardcore". They are well respected in the New York scene, and are generally considered to be a part of the New York Hardcore movement.

Cataract was a Swiss metalcore band signed to Metal Blade Records. The band formed in 1998 and disbanded in 2013.

Career Suicide Canadian hardcore punk band

Career Suicide is a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in 2001 in Toronto. The band's first live performance took place in January 2002, with first recorded output soon to follow. The band has gone on to record several full-length albums and singles on various international labels. The band has completed multiple tours of North America, Europe and Japan and continues to record and tour actively. Guitarist Jonah Falco and former bassist Mike Haliechuk also play drums and guitar, respectively, in the band Fucked Up. Career Suicide are known for having an old school 1980s hardcore sound.

Folly was an American band from Sussex, New Jersey, United States. Their music is a mix of hardcore, metal, punk and ska. The band's final lineup included Arben Colaku on bass, Geoff Towle on guitar, Anthony Wille on drums, Agim Colaku on guitar, and Jon Tummillo on vocals. They released two albums and two extended plays before disbanding.

Vitamin X Dutch hardcore punk band

Vitamin X is a Dutch hardcore punk band from Amsterdam formed in 1997. Their sound is characterized by furious hardcore punk mixed with turbo-charged thrash, 1970s rock riffs and wild guitar solos. The members are straight edge but this does not reflect their lyrics or music. Their current line-up consists of four members: Marko Korac (vocals), Alex Koutsman, Danny Schneiker (drums), and Marc Emmerik.

Killing Time is a New York hardcore band. From their beginnings in 1988, under the name Raw Deal, they went on to record two full-length albums and several EPs, singles, and compilation tracks. The band went through three hiatuses before formally disbanding in 1998. However, the band re-formed in 2006 and has been touring/playing since. Work on their third full-length album was completed in March 2009.

<i>Revenge Is a Healthy Motive</i> 2008 EP by Endwell

Revenge Is a Healthy Motive is hardcore punk band Endwell's second EP and third physical release. This album is also the first release after switching from Victory Records to Mediaskare. The album will be released exclusively through iTunes, independent music stores, and directly from the band on tour. The EP departs from the band's previous pop punk/hardcore punk mix and focuses strictly on hardcore. Commenting on the new release, Endwell stated that, "Basically we just wanted to make a record that was hard emotionally and musically. We wanted to write an album that we could enjoy and that made us feel like we did when we started playing hardcore when we were little kids." The album is also expected to be released as a 7" vinyl with slightly altered album art featuring "burning" or red imagery in the background of the title and foreground of the car.

Deez Nuts (band) Australian hardcore band

Deez Nuts are an Australian hardcore punk band that formed in Melbourne in 2007. The lineup currently consists of vocalist JJ Peters, guitarist Matt Rogers a.k.a Real Bad, and drummer Alex Salinger. The band has released one EP and six studio albums.

Love is Red was a melodic hardcore band hailing from Nashville, Tennessee. The band formed in 2000 In Florence, Alabama with the original line up of Rob Mcfeters (vocals), Dane Taylor (drums), Adam Riser (guitar), Roger Kilburn (guitar), and Kinsman Mackay (bass). After their first demo, the band released their debut full-length record, All Thats Ahead Points to Forever, on the Kansas City based indie record label Recorse Records. After a few southeastern tours, Rob Mcfeters quit the band. The band recruited Hunter Weeks on vocals. The band then re-recorded some demo tracks and released a split EP on Recorse Records with Nashville Band, Olivers Army in 2002.

<i>Consequences</i> (Endwell album) 2009 studio album by Endwell

Consequences is the second studio album released by American hardcore band Endwell. It will be the band's first studio album release after departing from Victory Records two years earlier. Consequences was released on April 21, 2009 through Mediaskare Records. This album features three tracks that were previously released on Endwell's Revenge is a Healthy Motive EP in 2008.

A premium was placed on lyrics related to struggles of the human condition and altruistic actions.

Skarhead is an American hardcore punk band from New York City, founded and fronted by Lord Ezec aka Danny Diablo. The group is considered the originators of thugcore music, a subgenre of hardcore punk "full of relentless breakdowns and throwdown-ready posturing". They have toured with Gwar, Hatebreed, and Earth Crisis. They have been cited as an influence by Deez Nuts and Fucked Up.
