The European Women's Youth Handball Championship is the official competition for youth women handball national teams in Europe, managed by the European Handball Federation. It takes place every two years. Since the 2005 edition, the championship received its current name: EHF European Women's U-17 Handball Championship.

The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations, and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria.
The Macedonian Handball Federation commonly known by its acronym, RFM, is the national governing body of handball in North Macedonia. Its headquarters are in Skopje and it reestablish its membership as a single Republic of the EHF and IHF in 1993. Macedonian Handball Federation is responsible for the organization and governance of handball's major local championships in the country and also runs the Macedonian Men's and Women's national teams.

Organized by the European Handball Federation, it takes place every two years. The competition received its current name in 2004, until then it was known as the European Women's Junior Handball Championship.

The 2023 Women's U-17 European Handball Championship Qualification tournament was an event which was held in Belgrade, Serbia from 22 to 25 November 2021 to decide the final qualifier for the 2023 Women's U-17 European Handball Championship. Serbia won the qualifier and advanced to the 2023 Women's U-17 European Handball Championship. After Russia was disqualified due to the war in Ukraine, Iceland, by finishing second, also qualified for the 2023 Women's U-17 European Handball Championship.
