Evan Weinstock (born October 30, 1991) is an American Olympic bobsledder.
Weinstock was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. [1] His father, Arnold Weinstock, is Jewish. His mother was not. He told Jewish Sports Review that he was raised without a faith, but he had no problem being identified as a Jewish athlete. [1] [2]
He played high school football as a wide receiver/safety and was the Nevada 4A Football Player of the Year at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas. [3] [1] [4] He became involved in bobsledding by virtue of his participation in the decathlon. [1] [5] His football career ended in high school with a torn labrum that he suffered on a running play. [4]
At Brown University (2014), where he majored in Biology, Weinstock set the university record in the decathlon (7,393 points), is second in university history in the pentathlon (5,296 points), and was a four-time Ivy League champion (three times in the decathlon, once in the heptathlon). At the IBSF 2016 Bobsled World Championship Team Event with pilot Justin Olsen, he came in 10th in Igls, Austria. [5] At the IBSF 2017 World Championship in Koenigssee, Germany, in the Two-Man with pilot Justin Olsen, he came in tied for 11th, and in the Four-Man for pilot Justin Olsen, he came in 11th. [5]
He competed for the United States in the two-man event at the 2018 Winter Olympics. [9] He and his team came in ninth place in the four-man bobsled, in 3:17.28, and came in 14th in the two-man bobsled. [10]
Bobsleigh or bobsled is a winter sport in which teams of 2 to 4 athletes make timed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sleigh. International bobsleigh competitions are governed by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation.
Kevin Kuske is a former German bobsledder who competed from 1999 to 2018. Competing in five Winter Olympics, he is the most successful Olympic athlete in bobsledding, winning four gold medals and two silver medals.
Steven Paul Holcomb was an American bobsledder who competed from 1998 until his death in 2017. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he won the four-man bobsled event for the United States, its first gold medal in that event since 1948. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he finished second in both the four-man and two-man event.
The Jamaica national bobsleigh team represents Jamaica in international bobsleighing competitions. The men's team debut in the 1988 Winter Olympic Games four-man bobsleigh in Calgary, Alberta, was received as underdogs in a cold weather sport represented by a nation with a tropical environment. Jamaica returned to the Winter Olympics in the two-man bobsleigh in 1992, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2014, and 2022; a women's team debuted in 2018.
Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts, commonly known as Del Sol High School, is a nine-month public high school in Las Vegas, Nevada and is part of the Clark County School District. Del Sol was one of three schools to open in Fall 2004. In 2016, Del Sol High School was reestablished as a performing arts academy focusing on band, costume design, dance, mariachi, music production, orchestra, theater, theater tech and vocal performance. Del Sol’s first State Title in Athletics was by the Boys Bowling team in 2018. Former President Barack Obama spoke 3 times at Del Sol during his second term to rally support for immigration overhaul.
Simone Bertazzo is a retired Italian bobsledder and current bobsled coach who has competed since 2001. He won a bronze medal in the two-man event at the 2007 FIBT World Championships in St. Moritz.
Justin Kripps is a Canadian bobsledder and an Olympic champion in two-man bobsleigh following his gold medal win at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Kripps won a silver medal in the two-man event at the 2017 World Championships and a bronze in the mixed team event at the 2012 World Championships. He has competed in the sport since 2006 and has many World Cup podiums. During the 2017–18 Bobsleigh World Cup, he finished the season first in the two-man and overall, to win the Crystal Globe as overall champion.
Justin Bradley Olsen is an American bobsledder who has competed since 2008. He won two medals at the 2009 FIBT World Championships in Lake Placid, New York, with a gold in the four-man and a bronze in the mixed team events. Olsen's best event bobsleigh World Cup finish was second on three occasions in 2008–09. Olsen won a gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics in the four-man bobsled with driver Steve Holcomb.
Christopher Fogt is a United States Army Major, three time USA Olympian, and Olympic Silver medalist. He won a Silver Medal at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi as a member of the famed Team Night Train, in the four-man event. He also competed in the two-man Bobsled event in Sochi, earning 12th place with pilot, Cory Butner. He competed in the 2010 Vancouver Games as a member of USA-2, in the four-man event with pilot John Napier. After taking three years off after the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, he returned to the Sport in 2017 with long time friend and teammate Steve Langton earning a spot on his third USA Winter Olympic Team to compete in PyeongChang, 2018. He competed in PyeongChang with pilot Justin Olsen in the four-man event.
Francesco Friedrich is a German bobsledder who has been active since 2006. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, he and his brakeman Thorsten Margis tied with Canada's Justin Kripps and Alexander Kopacz for the gold medal in the two-man competition. Friedrich also won gold outright in the four-man event alongside Margis, Candy Bauer and Martin Grothkopp, making Friedrich the fifth German pilot to win two-man and four-man golds at the same Games, after Andreas Ostler in 1952, Meinhard Nehmer in 1976, Wolfgang Hoppe in 1984 and André Lange in 2006. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, Friedrich and Margis again won the gold medal with both sleighs. Friedrich previously competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the doubles and fours and finished in eighth and tenth place, respectively.

Seo Young-woo is a South Korean bobsledder who competes as the brakeman for the two-man bobsled piloted by Won Yun-jong as well as a push crewman for the four-man bobsled also piloted by Won Yun-jong.
Thorsten Margis is a German bobsledder.
Germany competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018, with 153 competitors in 14 sports. They won 31 medals in total, 14 gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze, ranking second in the medal table after Norway at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Germany excelled in ice track events, biathlon, Nordic combined and Ski jumping. The men's ice hockey team took a silver medal, having lost a closely contested final to Olympic Athletes from Russia.
Nigeria sent a delegation to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea from 9–25 February 2018. This marked the debut for the country at the Winter Olympics. The delegation consisted of three bobsledders, who finished 19th in the two-woman competition, and skeleton racer Simidele Adeagbo who came in 20th in the women's event.
Alexander Kopacz is a Canadian bobsledder and the reigning Olympic co-champion in the two-man bobsleigh event. He competed in the two-man event at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Kopacz and pilot Justin Kripps tied with the German team of Francesco Friedrich and Thorsten Margis for the gold medal.
Alysia Rissling is a Canadian bobsledder. In 2015, she was the pilot for the first all-woman team in an official four-man bobsleigh race after the event became gender neutral. She competed in the two-woman bobsleigh event for Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics with Heather Moyse; the pair finished in 6th place.
Cameron Stones is a Canadian bobsledder. He competed in the four-man event at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Kaysha Love is an American bobsledder and former collegiate sprinter. She attended and competed in track and field at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where she was a two-time Second Team All-American (2017–2018). She was Utah’s 2016 Gatorade State Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year in high school. She represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where she competed in the two-woman bobsled.
