Excelsior Maassluis is a football club from Maassluis, Netherlands, founded in 1918. The club's home ground is the 5,000 capacity arena known as Sportpark Dijkpolder.

History

Excelsior won the Hoofdklasse of 2013 and became champions of the Topklasse just two years later. [2] Also known as the Tricolores, Excelsior due to their 2016 title win, was promoted to the Tweede Divisie. As so in the division's inaugural season Excelsior ended up at fifth in the league's standings. [2]

In the 2023–24 season, Excelsior finished 16th and had to participate in the relegation playoffs. However, Excelsior defeated USV Hercules 4–1 on aggregate in the first round, Harkemase Boys 3–2 in the second round, and then defeated SC Genemuiden 6–1 in the final, retaining their Tweede Divisie status. The Derde Divisie, formerly known as Topklasse, is the fourth tier of football in the Netherlands, which had its inaugural season as a third tier in 2010–11 and as a fourth tier in 2016–17. The league is placed between the Tweede Divisie and the Vierde Divisie, the third and fifth tiers of Dutch football, respectively. The introduction of the then Topklasse resulted from discussions between the Royal Dutch Football Association, the Coöperatie Eerste Divisie and the Centraal Overleg Hoofdklassers.

Dogan Corneille is a Dutch football manager and former player, who is the current head coach of Tweede Divisie club Excelsior Maassluis. His position as a player was defensive midfielder.

The 2023–24 Tweede Divisie, known as Betnation Divisie for sponsorship reasons, season is the eighth edition of the Dutch third tier since ending its hiatus since the 1970–71 season and the 23rd edition using the Tweede Divisie name.
