Extreme Weight Loss (originally titled Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition for its first two seasons) is a television program on ABC that premiered on May 30, 2011. The show was formally a spin-off of the Extreme Makeover franchise, where individuals receive life-changing makeovers.

History

ABC announced it had ordered six episodes of the series on October 22, 2009, under the title Obese. [1] On September 20, 2010, Chris Powell was announced as the trainer for the show, renamed Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition. ABC also announced that a second season had been ordered, due to the length of time of filming (one year). [2]

The series officially premiered on May 30, 2011 and was the top summer launch for an ABC series debut since August 2009. [3] The second season premiered on June 3, 2012 at 9:00 p.m. (Eastern)/8:00 p.m. (Central). [4] The third season, now renamed Extreme Weight Loss, [5] premiered on May 28, 2013. [6]

Death Valley is a horror black comedy mockumentary television series broadcast on MTV. The series premiered on August 29, 2011. The series follows the Undead Task Force (UTF), a newly formed division of the LAPD, as they are filmed by a camera news crew documentary-style, as they capture the monsters that roam the streets of San Fernando Valley in California. In March, 2012, the show's creator announced that Death Valley had not been picked up for a second season.

The third season of The Sing-Off premiered on September 19, 2011. The number of a cappella groups was increased from 10 to 16, resulting in a new format. The show created two brackets, with only half the groups performing each week for the first few weeks. Nick Lachey stayed as host for the new season, as did Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman as judges. New to the judges' table was Sara Bareilles, who replaces Nicole Scherzinger, who left after 2 seasons to become a judge on The X Factor. Deke Sharon returned as music director and vocal producer. The music staff included Ed Boyer, Ben Bram, Rob Dietz, and Christopher Diaz. The program ran for 11 episodes, and concluded on November 28, 2011 with Pentatonix winning the title.

The ninth season of The Fairly OddParents premiered on March 23, 2013 with the episode "Fairly OddPet" which aired after the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. The seventh season of American Ninja Warrior premiered on NBC on May 25, 2015. Hosts Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila returned for their respective sixth and third seasons while newcomer Kristine Leahy joined as sideline reporter, replacing Jenn Brown. In addition, this season's grand prize was increased from $500,000 to $1,000,000. The season concluded on September 14, 2015.
