"F.R.E.S.H." stands for "Forever Rhyming Eternally Saving Hip hop". [2]
"F.R.E.S.H." was written by Scribe and 10Aciouss. [3] The song opens with horse hoofbeats, [4] which producer 10Aciouss originally recorded from a horse travelling on cobblestones. [5] It incorporates elements of southern hip hop, and uses echoing drums, [6] dirty synth beats and a heavy bassline. [4] Jody Macgregor of Allmusic noted the "F.R.E.S.H." as one of the highlights of Rhyme Book. [6]
The music video for "F.R.E.S.H" was directed by Chris Graham, who is mentioned in the song. In the first sixty seconds of the clip there are approximately 100 cuts used. [2] At the end of the music video there is a short snippet of Scribe's previous single, "My Shit". This is similar to the end of the "My Shit" video which features a snippet of "F.R.E.S.H.".

The album was supported by the lead single "Revenge", and is XXXTentacion's second commercial record, following the compilation mixtape of the same name (2017). 17 includes a sole guest appearance from Trippie Redd and samples by Shiloh Dynasty. The record is a rap rock album and followed less than 10 months after September 2018's Binge EP. The album's production also included Foster the People frontman Mark Foster.
