Faecalicoccus is a genus of Gram-positive bacteria in the family Erysipelotrichaceae. Members of this genus are anaerobic and were originally isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of animals. [1]
The genus Faecalicoccus was first described in 2014 to accommodate the type species, Faecalicoccus acidiformans , which was isolated from the caecum of a chicken. [1] In the same study, Streptococcus pleomorphus was reclassified as Faecalicoccus pleomorphus. [1]
