Greater Western Sydney (GWS) is a large region of the metropolitan area of Greater Sydney, New South Wales, Australia that generally embraces the north-west, south-west, central-west, and far western sub-regions within Sydney's metropolitan area and encompasses 13 local government areas: Blacktown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Camden, Campbelltown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Hills Shire, Liverpool, Parramatta, Penrith, Wollondilly and the western portion of the City of Parramatta Council. It includes Western Sydney, which has a number of different definitions, although the one consistently used is the region composed of the nine local government authorities which are all members of the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC). The NSW Government's Office of Western Sydney uses the broader Greater Western Sydney definition to refer to the region.

Marconi Stallions Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Fairfield, Sydney, New South Wales. Sydney Grade Cricket is a cricket competition played in Sydney, Australia. As of the 2016/17 season, Sydney Grade Cricket is now referred to as NSW Premier Cricket. The name change was part of a Cricket Australia initiative to standardise the naming of the elite men's cricket competition within each state's capital city. The competition began in 1893 when a number of clubs that had been playing for many years on an ad hoc basis voted to create a formal competition structure.

A Fairfield City Netball Association junior, Amorette has come through the ranks to represent New South Wales at the 17/U, 19/U and 21/U age groups. Quiet by nature, Amorette rose to prominence during the Australian Netball League and DOOLEYS State League, where she played an integral role in her teams’ success, including the Netball NSW Waratahs maiden ANL victory in 2011.Since making her ANZ Championship debut in 2009, Amorette has gone on to become an integral part of the NSW Swifts 'moving' shooting circle, earning a nomination for ANZ Championship Best Young Player in 2012. Amorette’s journey to the NSW Swifts is a unique one – she had her first taste of elite netball when she was a ball girl for the Swifts as a teenager before going on to be a member of the Swifts squad in the former national league at the age of 17. At 23 years of age, Amorette will be suiting up for the NSW Swifts for her fifth season in 2013. Amorette played her 25th ANZ Championship game when she took the court at wing attack against the Northern Mystics in Round 10 of the 2013 ANZ Championship at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre. After the Swifts season in 2013 Amorette made up her mind and moved north to the Queensland and play for the Firebirds alongside 2013 premiership winning rookie Stephanie Puopolo. Amorette Spent 1 year with the Sydney Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, That year being the last year of the competition 2007.

The Broadcaster was an English language local community tabloid newspaper published by several owners in Western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, which principally covered the Municipality of Holroyd and surrounding districts. It was first published in Guildford in 1932, but became a title of The Biz newspaper publishing company located in Fairfield, in 1935. The Broadcaster eventually came under the control of Cumberland Newspapers in 1958 and was retitled the Merrylands Broadcaster from April 1975. The newspaper ceased publication around 1978.
Luke Andrew Doran is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Sydney Sixers and the New South Wales Blues. He was a member of Australia's 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup squad which won the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. He has played in three List A matches for New South Wales, and 15 Big Bash games for the Sydney Sixers. Doran did not play in the 2015–16 Big Bash League season due to a side strain, although he was in the Sixers semi-final squad.

The club was founded in the 1970s by Assyrian migrants and serves as the leading club in the Assyrian Australian community. Fairfield Bulls have previously been known as the Bonnyrigg Eagles and Nineveh Eagles Soccer Team.
Rydalmere Lions FC are a football (soccer) club, from the suburb of Rydalmere in the city of Parramatta. The club is also known as Rydalmere Football Club and Rydalmere FC and was founded in 1979. The Men's team currently plays in the New South Wales National Premier League 2 competition, the second tier of football in New South Wales and the third tier in Australia when including the national competition, the A-League. They gained promotion to NSW NPL2 after finishing as premiers of the 2017 NSW NPL3.
