At 10:24 AM local time, FedEx Express Flight 1376 took off from Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport. [3]

Around 10:40 PM - Return to Chattanooga

Fifteen minutes after departure, the crew advised ATC that they would need to turn back to Chattanooga but required more time to complete the checks. They didn't report an emergency yet.

Around 11:00 PM - Emergency

After 5 minutes, the crew advised they would need extra time to lower the flaps to prepare for landing. After a further four minutes, FedEx Express Flight 1376's crew advised they were experiencing flight control issues. On the first approach, the crew advised they got an unsafe gear warning on the flight deck. Unsure of the gear status, they decided to call an emergency. [4]

Following the crew upgrading the situation to an emergency, they requested a low approach to have the airport staff check whether the gear was in the down position. After performing a low approach along the runway, ground staff and air traffic controllers reported to the crew of Flight 1376 that no main gear was visible from the ground.

11:48 PM - No-Gear Landing

After a ten-minute delay, while the crew performed one circuit of the airfield, the aircraft intercepted the localizer for runway 20 and touched down about 85 minutes after departure. The aircraft overran the end of the runway, although the crew was able to evacuate the runway with no injuries. [5]
