Feroz Sherif is an Indian football coach and former footballer. He played as a goalkeeper for State Bank of Travancore and India.

Career

Born in Kochi, Kerala, Sherif spent some of his youth career with Santos Club. [2] Sherif soon joined State Bank of Travancore where he played in local tournaments and the National Football League as well. [3] [1] In 2002, following State Bank of Travancore being relegated from the NFL, Sherif signed for Mahindra United on loan for the 2002–03 season. [4] [5]

Sherif also represented his state, Kerala, in the Santosh Trophy. [6] He led the team to the final of the 2001–02 Santosh Trophy against Goa. [7] Kerala won the tournament that year, defeating Goa in the final 3–2 through an Abdul Hakkim hat-trick. [8]

International

Sherif has been called up and played for India during the 1997 Nehru Cup, 1998 Asian Games, and 1998 FIFA World Cup qualification. [9] [10] [11]

Coaching

After retiring as a player, Sherif went into coaching. At one point, Sherif was coach of the Kerala under-13 side. [12] Sheriff has also worked as a goalkeeper coach for the India U19 and India U16 sides. [13] [14]

Feroz is also credited for having coached and scouted India international, Anas Edathodika, in 2007. [15]

SBI Kerala Football Team was a professional football club based in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala that represented and was owned by the State Bank of Travancore (SBT). It last competed in the Kerala Premier League. Lt. Col. P. R. Godavarma Raja, often referred to as G. V. Raja, was an Indian sports and tourism promoter and administrator, pilot, sportsman and Sanskrit scholar. Raja occupied the post of Council President till he was killed in a flight mishap in 1971. G. V. The Kerala football team, formerly known as Travancore-Cochin football team, is an Indian state level semi-professional football team representing Kerala in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy and National Games of India.

The 2013 Santosh Trophy was the 67th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main state competition in Indian football. The tournament this season was held from 1 February to 3 March 2013 in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.

The 1997–98 Santosh Trophy was the 54th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main State competition for football in India. It was held between 16 and 27 April 1998 in Guwahati, Assam. In the final, Bengal beat Goa 1–0 in a repeat of the previous edition's final. It was their fifth consecutive win and 28th overall.
