Ficarazzi is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Palermo in the Italian region of Sicily, located about 10 kilometres (6 mi) southeast of Palermo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 9,674 and an area of 3.6 square kilometres (1.4 sq mi). [1]

It is approximately 15 kilometres (9 mi) from Palermo and its name means "the resting place or the messuage of the Emir", and dates from the Muslim emirate of Sicily. The village rose around a castle founded by emir Jafar II (998–1019).
