Pollina (Sicilian: Puòddina) is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) east of Palermo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,102 and an area of 49.9 square kilometres (19.3 sq mi). [1] Pollina probably occupies the site of the ancient city of Apollonia.
Sicilian, also known as Siculo or Calabro-Sicilian, is a Romance language spoken on the island of Sicily and its satellite islands. It is also spoken in southern Calabria, specifically in the Province of Reggio Calabria, whose dialect is viewed as being part of the continuum of the Sicilian language.
