The men's field hockey tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics was the 25th edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympics. It took place from 27 July to 8 August 2024. All games were played at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Paris, France. [1]

Contents

The Netherlands took home gold after a finals victory over Germany for their third title, while India took the bronze medal. [2] [3]

Competition format

The twelve teams in the tournament were divided into two groups of six, with each team initially playing round-robin games within their group. Following the completion of the round-robin stage, the top four teams from each group advanced to the quarter-finals. The two semi-final winners met for the gold medal match, while the semi-final losers played in the bronze medal match.

Qualification

Each of the Continental Champions from five confederations received an automatic berth. France as the host nation qualified automatically. The other teams qualified through the 2024 Men's FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers. [5]

All games were played at the Riverbank Arena within the Olympic Park in London, United Kingdom.

The 2014 Men's Hockey World Cup was the 13th edition of the Hockey World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national field hockey teams organized by the FIH. It was held from 31 May to 15 June 2014 at the Kyocera Stadion in The Hague, Netherlands. simultaneously with the women's tournament. It was the third time that the Netherlands hosted the World Cup after 1973 and 1998.

The 2014–15 Men's FIH Hockey World League Semifinals took place in June and July 2015. A total of 20 teams competing in 2 events took part in this round of the tournament playing for 7 berths in the Final, played between 5–13 December 2015 in Raipur, India.

All games were played at the Olympic Hockey Centre in Deodoro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 2023 Men's FIH Hockey World Cup was the 15th edition of the Men's FIH Hockey World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national field hockey teams organized by the International Hockey Federation. It was held at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar and at the 20,000 seat Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, India from 13 to 29 January 2023.

The 2023 Men's EuroHockey Championship was the nineteenth edition of the Men's EuroHockey Championship, the biennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organised by the European Hockey Federation.

The 2021–22 Men's FIH Pro League was the third edition of the Men's FIH Pro League, a field hockey championship for men's national teams. The tournament started on 16 October 2021 and finished on 26 June 2022.

The men's field hockey tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games was held at the University of Birmingham Hockey and Squash Centre between 29 July and 8 August 2022.
