Dorothy Ada Emerson is a British athlete, who mainly competed in the women's high jump event.
Fiji sent a delegation to compete at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, from 17 July to 1 August 1976. This was the nation's fifth appearance at a Summer Olympic Games. Their first appearance was at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. Fiji's delegation consisted of two competitors. Tony Moore who made it to the quarter-finals of the 200m sprint and round 1 in the 100m sprint. After not starting in the 400m sprint, he only made the qualification stage of the long jump. The other athlete was Miriama Tuisorisori-Chambault who competed in the women's pentathlon and long jump. She finished 18th overall in the pentathlon and 27th in qualifying for the long jump. She would not start in the 100m hurdles.
Fiji first competed at the Summer Paralympic Games in 1964, sending a single athlete to compete in weightlifting, then missed out on two consecutive Games before returning in 1976, with a larger delegation of eight competitors in swimming and athletics. The country was then absent for four more consecutive Games, returning to the Paralympics in 1996 with two competitors in athletics. Fiji has participated in every subsequent edition of the Summer Games.

Their participation marked their second Commonwealth Youth Games appearance. The Dominican delegation consisted of four competitors who competed in two different sports. This was a decrease in the number of athletes from the nation's last appearance at the Games, when five athletes were sent to Pune. Shanica Yankey won a bronze medal in the javelin throw with a best throw of 38.08 m. Yankey was the only medal winner for Dominica, and the country finished last in the medal table, in 22nd position, sharing the position with nine other Commonwealth Games Associations. Yankey's was the first medal for Dominica in the history of the Games.
Manueli Tulo is a Fijian weightlifter who competed for Fiji at the 2012 Summer Olympics and at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Both times he competed in the Men's 56kg event, finishing 13th both times. His wife Maria Liku also represented Fiji in weightlifting at the 2012 Summer Olympics, while his younger sister, Seruwaia Malani, competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Nia Misikea is a Niuean track and field athlete who specializes in shot put and javelin. He competed for Niue at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the men's javelin throw and the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the men's shot put and men's javelin throw. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Misikea threw a distance of 47.95 metres and finished 22nd of 22 athletes that competed, his fellow athlete Ikipa Misikea came 21st and set a new national records of 51.68 metres, neither of them qualified for the final. This national records Nia Misikea broke later at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games with a distance of 53.91 metres. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Misikea competed in men's shot put and men's javelin throw along with Loe Kaufisi. In both events, Misikea beat Kaufisi but in both events they finished below all of the other competitors. Misikea did however, set a new national record in the shot put after he registered a 12.13 metre put, he still finished 3.69 metres behind the next closest athlete, Mustafa Fall from Fiji and did not qualify to the final. In the javelin throw, his best throw was 47.73 metres, this finished him 5.11 metres behind the next closest competitor, Imo Fiamalua from Tuvalu and didn't qualify for the final once again.
