Filip Rak (born 3 February 2003) is a Polish middle distance and cross country runner. He is the Polish indoor champion over 1500 metres and 3000 metres, and national U23 record holder over 1500 metres indoors and outdoors. [1]

Career

He broke the Polish U18 record for the 1500 metres in Gdańsk in August 2020, running 3:45.86. [2] He finished ninth at the 2021 European Athletics U20 Championships over 1500 metres in Tallinn. [3]

He won the Polish U20 1500 metres indoors title in February 2022. He qualified for the final in the Men's 1500 metres at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia, placing tenth overall. [4] [5]

He finished fourth in the Polish national cross country championship in November 2023 and was part of the Polish team that finished seventh at the 2023 European Cross Country Championships in Brussels the following month. [6]

He finished eighth at the 2024 Copernicus Cup over 1500 metres in February 2024, and broke the Polish U23 indoors record with a time of 3:30.37. [7] The following week he claimed Polish national titles over 1500 metres and 3000 metres indoors, running a 3000m personal best of 7:56.51. [8]

In May 2024, in Olkusz he ran a time of 1:45.97 in the 800 meters. [9] The following week he lowered his outdoor 1500 metres personal best to 3:33.74 in Chorzow, a Polish national U23 outdoors record which met the qualifying standard for the 2024 European Championships in Rome. [10] The time also places him third on the all-time Polish list. [11]

He runs for AZS Politechnika Opoleska club and attends the University of Opole. [12]

Sofia Ennaoui is a Polish middle-distance runner who specialises in the 1500 metres. She finished fifth in the event at the 2022 World Athletics Championships as the second non-African woman. Ennaoui won the silver medal at the 2018 European Championships, and a bronze at the 2022 European Championships. At the European Indoor Championships, she earned bronze in 2017, silver in 2019 and bronze in 2023. She took two individual age-group medals at the European Cross Country Championships.

Konstanze "Koko" Klosterhalfen is a German middle- and long-distance runner. She is the 2019 World Championship bronze medallist and 2022 European champion in the 5000 metres, becoming the first German medalist of the event at the World Athletics Championships and the first German winner of the event at the European Athletics Championships. At the European Indoor Championships, Klosterhalfen won silver medals for the 1500 metres in 2017 and the 3000 metres in 2019 and 2023. She took four individual medals at the European Cross Country Championships. In February 2020, she set a European indoor record in the 5000 m with 14:30.79, the fourth fastest time ever.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen is a Norwegian middle- and long-distance runner. Ingebrigtsen is the current world record holder for the indoor 1500 metres and the 2000 metres, and holds the world best time over the two mile distance. Ingebrigtsen is a two-time World champion, winning gold medals in the 5000 metres in 2022 and 2023 and a four-time European champion, winning gold medals in the 1500 m and 5000 m in 2018 and 2022. He also won a gold medal in the 1500 m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, setting an Olympic and European record.
