Fitra Ismu Kusumo [1] is a promoter of Indonesian art and Culture in Mexico, since 2002 and founder of Indra Swara, [2] introducing Indonesia through Gamelan (Indonesian traditional Music), Indonesian traditional dances and also through its puppeteering art [3] [4] [5] (Wayang Kulit and Wayang Golek [6] ). [7] [8] [9] As a researcher his area of specialty is Muslims and Islam in Mexico and Latin America.
He founded Indra Swara, [10] [11] introducing Gamelan to young art students from Centro Nacional de las Artes, the Escuela Nacional de Musica, and from the Conservatorio de Musica of Mexico City inviting them to be a part of the ensemble. In 2002 he began studying his master's degree at the Escuela Nacional de Antropologia e Historia(ENAH) in Mexico City. In 2003 he started working at the Indonesian Embassy in Mexico City, and in 2004 was contacted by the Topos de Tlatelolco, Mexican Rescue team to be part of them in the Aceh Tsunami aid Mission-2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, [12] [13] [14] in the Jogyakarta 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake relief mission and in the Padang 2009 Sumatra earthquakes relief mission.
Bachelor of Arts in French Literature from the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Indonesia. He completed his master's and doctorate degrees (earning an honorific mention) in History and Ethno-History at the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH) in Mexico, his field of specialization being Muslims and Islam in Mexico and Latin America. Since 2016, he's been working to promote halal [17] products from Mexico [18] to Muslim countries. [19] Likewise, he is constantly promoting and raising awareness regarding the Halal issue and Halal certification. He has worked at OMECEGA (2016-2017) and at RACS, a certification body of the United Arab Emirates (2017-2019), and in July 2019, with support from Muslim communities in Mexico, he founded the Mexican Halal certification body "Halal Quality Mexico S.A. de C.V." [20] in Mexico City. [21]
He has worked at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia(2003-2012) [22] promoting the image and culture of his country, and as a liaison between the Embassy and institutions in Mexico and Central America. [23] [24] He has also taught Indonesian traditional music, dance and culture in different institutions throughout the country, including the Conservatorio Nacional de Música (Mexico). Within Indra Swara [25] [26] he is coordinator and teacher of Gamelan music and Traditional Puppet Art of Indonesia (wayang). [27] [28] [29] [30]
His publications include: "Islam in Latin America" volumes I, II and III, "Islam in Contemporary Mexico" and "Islam for Beginners", all of them available in electronic format. He is a contributor to the magazine FMPM Magazine Indonesia, correspondent for detik.com, the largest and most important online news program in Indonesia, as well as a permanent correspondent for Aktual Network, aktual.co
He has made several presentations (including conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, [31] [32] performances, [33] [34] [35] [36] etc.) [37] [38] [39] [40] as a means to promote Indonesian art and culture amongst Spanish speakers. [41] [42] Throughout his career he has also participated as a speaker and lecturer in different venues in Mexico (including the Research Center on Latin America and the Caribbean of National Autonomous University of Mexico, the Autonomous University of Yucatán (Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán), the ENAH, the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, among others) [43] in relation to his field of study. Gamelan is the traditional ensemble music of the Javanese, Sundanese, and Balinese peoples of Indonesia, made up predominantly of percussive instruments. The most common instruments used are metallophones and a set of hand-drums called kendang, which keep the beat. The kemanak, a banana-shaped idiophone, and the gangsa, another metallophone, are also commonly used gamelan instruments on Bali. Other notable instruments include xylophones, bamboo flutes, a bowed string instrument called a rebab, and a zither-like instrument called a siter, used in Javanese gamelan. Additionally, vocalists may be featured, being referred to as sindhen for females or gerong for males.
West Java is an Indonesian province on the western part of the island of Java, with its provincial capital in Bandung. Wayang is a traditional form of puppet theatre play originating from the Indonesian island of Java. Wayang refers to the entire dramatic show. Sometimes the leather puppet itself is referred to as wayang. Performances of wayang puppet theatre are accompanied by a gamelan orchestra in Java, and by gender wayang in Bali. The dramatic stories depict mythologies, such as episodes from the Hindu epics the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, as well as local adaptations of cultural legends. Traditionally, a wayang is played out in a ritualized midnight-to-dawn show by a dalang, an artist and spiritual leader; people watch the show from both sides of the screen.

Shadow play, also known as shadow puppetry, is an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment which uses flat articulated cut-out figures which are held between a source of light and a translucent screen or scrim. The cut-out shapes of the puppets sometimes include translucent color or other types of detailing. Various effects can be achieved by moving both the puppets and the light source. A skilled puppeteer can make the figures appear to walk, dance, fight, nod and laugh.

The Indonesia Museum, is an anthropology and ethnological museum located in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, Indonesia. The museum is concentrated on arts and cultures of various ethnic groups that inhabit Indonesian archipelago and formed the modern nation of Indonesia. The museum is a richly decorated building in Balinese architecture. The museum boasts a comprehensive collection consisting of over 1,000 pieces of traditional and contemporary Indonesian arts, crafts and traditional costumes from the different regions of the nation.
The Museo Estatal de Arte Popular de Oaxaca or MEAPO is a small museum in the municipality of San Bartolo Coyotepec just south of the city of Oaxaca in Mexico. It is run by the state of Oaxaca to showcase the entity's handcrafts and folk art tradition, through its permanent collection, online "cyber-museum", collaboration with national and international entities, and sponsorship of events such as craft markets, conferences, and temporary exhibitions. It is dedicated to the crafts and to the artisans and the cultures behind the items. Its collection contains samples of most of the crafts produced in the state, especially the Central Valleys region, but most of its collection consists of barro negro pottery, the specialty of San Bartolo Coyotepec. It is run by director Carlomagno Pedro Martínez, a recognized artisan and artist in barro negro.

Pablo Jofré is a Chilean poet currently living and working in Berlin, Germany. Jofré was awarded the Lagar Prize by the Chilean National Contest of Literature Gabriela Mistral for the poetry collection Abecedario in 2009. He also won first prize at the Sant Andreu de la Barca Competition for his poem "La Danza de la Existencia (Extranjería)" in 2010.
Indra Swara is a group promoting Indonesian art and culture in Mexico. It was created in December 2002 and it is mostly made up of young Mexicans, enthusiasts of Asian arts and particularly those of Indonesia. Some of its members have had the opportunity to study directly in the islands of Java and Bali through the Darmasiswa Scholarship program offered by the Indonesian government.
