Towa Tei

Towa Tei is an artist, record producer and DJ born in Yokohama, Japan. Towa debuted as a member of Deee-Lite, from the US label Elektra Records in 1990 and shot to fame via their international hit single, "Groove Is In the Heart". He made his solo debut with the album Future Listening! in 1994. He has since relocated back from New York to rural Nagano prefecture in Japan.

"Sometime Samurai" is a song written and performed by Japanese music producer Towa Tei and Australian singer Kylie Minogue for Tei's album Flash (2005). It was originally recorded as a demo alongside "GBI " in 1996, but remained unreleased for eight years until Minogue had the opportunity to re-record her vocals in 2003. Before its inclusion on Flash, the song was mentioned in Minogue's book Kylie: La La La. The song was written about Minogue's then-boyfriend, photographer Stéphane Sednaoui.

"Funkin' for Jamaica (N.Y.)" is a 1980 single by jazz trumpeter Tom Browne. The single—a memoir of the Jamaica neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens where Browne was born and raised—is from his second solo album, Love Approach. Browne got the idea for the song while he was at his parents' home. The vocals for the single were performed by Toni Smith, who also helped compose the song.
