Future Listening! is the debut studio album by Japanese music producer Towa Tei, released on October 21, 1994 by For Life Music. [7] [8] It is Tei's first release after his departure from Deee-Lite. [8] The album was released in the United States on April 25, 1995 by Elektra Records. [9]

Produced by Tei, Future Listening! includes collaborations with artists such as Joi Cardwell, Bebel Gilberto, Arto Lindsay, MC Kinky, Hiroshi Takano, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Toshihiko Mori, Satoshi Tomiie, Yuichi Oki of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, and Pizzicato Five vocalist Maki Nomiya. [10] The album peaked at number 50 on the Oricon Albums Chart. [7] Both "Luv Connection" (featuring Cardwell on vocals) and "Technova" (remixed by Josh Wink) were top 30 hits on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart in 1995. [11]

In 2007, Rolling Stone Japan placed Future Listening! at number 59 on its list of the "100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums of All Time". [12] The 2007 reissue of the album peaked at number 73 on the Oricon Albums Chart. [13]

He made his solo debut with the album Future Listening! in 1994. He has since relocated from New York to rural Nagano prefecture in Japan.

Joi Cardwell is an American singer and songwriter. Born and raised in New York City, she performed in various singing competitions as a child and rose to fame in the early 1990s as a guest vocalist for Lil Louis on the number 1 Dance singles "Club Lonely" and "Saved My Life". The release of Cardwell's debut album, The World Is Full of Trouble (1995), established her as a solo artist worldwide and featured the Billboard Dance top-five singles number-one singles "Jump for Joi" and "Love & Devotion". Her second album, Joi Cardwell (1997), spawned the top-charting singles "Soul to Bare", "Run to You", and "Found Love".

"Lights" is a song recorded by South Korean boy band BTS for their fourth Japanese-language studio album, Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~ (2020). The song was released as a double A-side single with the Japanese version of "Boy with Luv" on July 3, 2019, through Universal Music Japan. This marked the band's first original Japanese single in two years since 2017's "Crystal Snow". The song was written by Sunny Boy, Yohei, and UTA, with the latter of the three solely handling production. Musically, it is an electropop power ballad in the style of dance music, featuring a bassline and piano-driven chord progression. An uplifting song, the lyrics describe BTS and the listener as each other's light.
