Florida's 13th House district elects one member of the Florida House of Representatives. The district is represented by Tracie Davis. [1] This district is located in Northeast Florida, and encompasses part of the First Coast, as well as the central part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. [2] The district covers central Duval County and Downtown Jacksonville, as well as the western half of the Arlington neighborhood. The district is located entirely within Jacksonville, though it only contains part of the city center. [2] As of the 2010 Census, the district's population is 158,781. This district is majority-minority. [3]
This district contains Florida State College at Jacksonville and Edward Waters College, located in Downtown Jacksonville, and Jacksonville University, located in the Arlington neighborhood.
There was a vacancy between November 4, 2014 and February 18, 2015. This vacancy occurred when incumbent Reggie Fullwood's reelection paperwork was rejected due to an error on his financial disclosure form. [4] As he was the only candidate on the ballot, Florida Governor Rick Scott called for a special election to be held in February 2015. Fullwood won the special election to fill the seat. [4]
There was a vacancy between October 3, 2016 and November 8, 2016 as the incumbent, Reggie Fullwood, resigned due after pleading guilty to wire fraud. [5] Duval County Supervisor of Elections Tracie Davis won the general election to fill the seat. [1]

Corrine Brown is an American former politician who served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida from 1993 to 2017. She is a member of the Democratic Party. After a court-ordered redistricting significantly changed her district and a federal indictment for corruption, Brown was defeated in the 2016 Democratic primary by Al Lawson, who went on to win Brown's former seat.

The largest city in the district is Jacksonville, though it only contains part of the city. As of the 2010 census, the district's population is 155,895. This district is majority-minority.
The 2023 Jacksonville mayoral election was held on March 21, 2023, with a runoff held on May 16. Incumbent Republican mayor Lenny Curry was term-limited and could not seek a third term in office. Seven candidates filed to run, including four Republicans, two Democrats, and an independent. Jacksonville mayoral elections use a blanket primary system where all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, appear on the same ballot.
The 2022 elections for the Florida State Senate took place on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, to elect state senators from all 40 districts. Although on ordinary years, 20 senators are elected at a time on a staggered basis, races following redistricting elect all 40 members to ensure that each member represents an equal number of constituents. The Republican Party expanded their Senate majority from 24 to 28, gaining a supermajority in the Senate. The concurrently held House elections also resulted in a supermajority, giving Republicans supermajority control of the legislature.
