History

SR 203 was defined without a number by 1931 state law, chapter 14921, approved May 29, 1931:

That certain road beginning at a point on State Road 3, approximately three miles south of the City of Sanford, where the present paved road to Oviedo intersects said SR 3; thence along said paved road to the intersection of Broadway and Bay Streets in the Town of Oviedo, Florida; and thence running in a southeasterly direction along the paved road, as now located, and known as the Chuluota-Oviedo Road, to Chuluota, Florida; thence continuing south along the Section line between Sections 28, 29 and 32 and 33, Township 21, Range 32, in the County of Seminole to its intersection with the Orange County line; and thence continuing on the present paved road to the intersection of said road with State Road 22.

In the 1945 renumbering, SR 203 became State Road 419.

State Road 434 is a major roadway in the Central Florida area. Starting at SR 424 just north of Orlando city limits, the road runs north as Forest City Road through Forest City before dropping the name at the Seminole County line. SR 434 continues north and east through Altamonte Springs and Longwood before turning south and east through Winter Springs and Oviedo. SR 434 is called Central Avenue when it first turns south towards downtown Oviedo. After going through downtown Oviedo, SR 434 is called Alafaya Trail from its intersection with Mitchell Hammock Road south to the Orange County line to its end at SR 50. The road continues south as Alafaya Trail only without the state road designation. Alafaya meets with State Road 50 in Union Park, FL.

State Road 78 is the Florida Department of Transportation designation of the highway that historically extended from Pine Island Center on the Gulf Coast of Florida to the northern tip of Lake Okeechobee. In the 1980s, two segments of the route were removed from state maintenance to county maintenance. More recently, SR 78 signs were removed from the four-mile-long stretch of US 27/SR 25 that was once a concurrency. All three sections are signed east–west, even though the easternmost section is actually a north–south route.

The north-south segment is known as Gunnery Road through Lehigh Acres and Buckingham Road through Buckingham.
