The 1993 Mediterranean Games football tournament was the 12th edition of the Mediterranean Games men's football tournament. The football tournament was held in Languedoc-Roussillon, France between 16 and 27 June 1993 as part of the 1993 Mediterranean Games and was contested by 10 teams. Countries were represented by their Olympic teams, except for host France, who took part with their U21 team. [1] Turkey won the gold medal.
Ten Olympic teams took part in the tournament, 3 teams from Africa and 7 teams from Europe. France participated with the under-21 team.

Perpignan is the prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales department in Southern France, in the heart of the plain of Roussillon, at the foot of the Pyrenees a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea and the scrublands of the Corbières massif. It is the centre of the Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole metropolitan area.
The Province of Languedoc is a former province of France. Most of its territory is now contained in the modern-day region of Occitanie in Southern France. Its capital city was Toulouse. It had an area of approximately 42,700 square kilometers.
Languedoc-Roussillon is a former administrative region of France. On 1 January 2016, it joined with the region of Midi-Pyrénées to become Occitania. It comprised five departments, and bordered the other French regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne, Midi-Pyrénées towards the north, and Spain, Andorra and the Mediterranean Sea towards the south. Saint-Estève XIII Mavericks are a French Rugby league side based in Saint-Estève near Perpignan in the département of Pyrénées-Orientales. Originally known as AS Saint-Estève until 2000, the club was founded in 1965. They compete in the National Division 2 Languedoc-Roussillon league. Home games are played at the Stade Municipal.
The 1994 UEFA European Under-21 Championship was the ninth UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The final tournament was hosted in France between 15 and 20 April 1994.
FC Sète 34 was a French football club based in Sète and founded in 1901 as Olympique de Cette. The club won the French league title twice and the French cup also twice. In 1934 they became the first club to win the French league and cup double. At the time, they were using the Georges-Bayrou Stadium. Until 1960, the club played a major role in the French football championship, but due to financial issues, it was forced to give up professional status. From the 1970s until 2005, the club played in secondary levels, before accessing Ligue 2 for one season after finishing at the 3rd rank of Championnat National. The club last played in Championnat National 2, the fourth tier of French football, at Stade Louis Michel in the town.
Nîmes Olympique is a French association football club based in Nîmes. The club was founded on 10 April 1937 and currently plays in the Championnat National, the third tier of French football. The Stade des Antonins is the club’s home stadium.
The Stade des Costières was a football stadium in Nîmes, France. Having a capacity of 18,364 people, it was the home of Nîmes Olympique from 1989 to 2022.
Stade Louis-Michel is a multi-purpose stadium in Sète, France. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home stadium of FC Sète 34. The stadium is able to hold 8,500 people.

Ille-sur-Têt XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Ille-sur-Têt, Pyrénées Orientales in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. The club plays in the French Elite Two Championship. Founded in 1945 they play their home games at the Stade Jean Galia.
The 2010 Caribbean Cup was the 2010 edition of the Caribbean Championship, an international football championship for national teams affiliated with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) of the CONCACAF region. The final stage was hosted by Martinique. Martinique were selected as hosts over fellow bidders Guadeloupe and Barbados. The competition was originally scheduled to begin on 18 August with the final match taking place on 28 November. However, at the beginning of August 2010, the CFU released a different schedule that showed the competition being postponed until 2 October. Also, the Bahamas pulled out of the competition, leaving 23 teams. The groups were changed, allowing Cuba and Antigua and Barbuda to get a bye to the second qualifying round at the expense of Guyana and the Netherlands Antilles.
Occitania is the southernmost administrative region of metropolitan France excluding Corsica, created on 1 January 2016 from the former regions of Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. The Council of State approved Occitania as the new name of the region on 28 September 2016, coming into effect on 30 September 2016.
