Francis Chukwuemeka Eze is a Nigerian physicist and researcher. He was the vice chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Owerri. [1] He is a recipient of the Commonwealth Academy Staff Scholarship award, Association Commonwealth Universities, London, 1983; grantee, International Committee Science Unions, India, 1995. [2] Member of Nigerian University Physics Series (secretary since 2002), Nigerian Institute Physics.
Eze was born on October 13, 1956, in Onitsha, Anambra, Nigeria, to the family of Clement Diwoha and Grace Martha Ezejimadu.
Eze's lecturing career began in 1981 at Federal University of Technology, Auchi. He became a full professor of physics in 2003, and was elected as vice chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Owerri in 2016, after serving in various administrative positions in the school. [4] Prior to that, he had been appointed a reader in physics at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri on October 1, 1999.
Eze has been a professor of physics at the School of Physical Sciences (formerly part of School of Science), Federal University of Technology, Owerri since 1 October 2003.[ citation needed ] He defeated an incumbent Dean for the first time in the history of FUTO [5] and has served as a two-term elected dean, School of Science. He served as deputy vice-chancellor (administration) of FUTO, September 13, 2013, to 2016.[ citation needed ] Eze has over 31 years of university teaching, research and administrative experience spread over seven universities both within and outside Nigeria, within which time he supervised and examined over 300 research projects at B.Sc/B. Tech, M.Sc. and PhD levels. Eze is very active in quality research in experiential solid-state physics and materials science, thin solid films, renewable energy and corrosion inhibition using local herb extracts. He has served as a physics consultant to the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) technical committee.[ citation needed ] He has also served on the technical committee on developing curricula for postgraduate training in nuclear science and engineering sponsored by NAEC.[ citation needed ] He also served as a physics consultant to Singaporean writing team on producing and ICT-illustrated Physics textbook – The New System Physics.
Following the end of his tenure as vice-chancellor of FUTO, he handed over to Professor Nnenna Nnannaya Oti who resumed office as the 8th vice-chancellor of the institution on 19 June 2021.
In a 2017 published paper entitled, Characteristics of Nanocrystallite-CdS Produced by Low-Cost Electrochemical Technique for Thin Film Photovoltaic Application: The Influence of Deposition Voltage, Eze studied the characteristics of five nanocrystallite-CdS thin films within a timed environment. The X-ray results showed the shapes and thickness of the crystallite. Further analysis also discusses the behavior of factions of the findings. [11]
The University of Nigeria, commonly referred to as UNN, is a federal university located in Nsukka, Enugu State, Eastern part of Nigeria. Founded in 1955 by Nnamdi Azikiwe who was the Governor General of Nigeria between 1960 and 1963, and first President of Nigeria between 1963 and 1966. Cyril Agodi Onwumechili was a Nigerian physicist, academic administrator, and professor of geophysics at the University of Ibadan and later University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was the fourth Vice Chancellor of the University of Ife from January 1979 to December 1982 and the former President/Vice Chancellor of the Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu, Nigeria, from January 1983 to December 1986. He delivered the Ahiajoku lecture on 20 November 2000. He was the first Nigerian geophysicist and the second president of the Nigerian Academy of Science. He was elected as president of the Academy in 1979 to succeed Professor Victor Adenuga Oyenuga, the first emeritus professor of the University of Ibadan and the first African professor of Agricultural science.
Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi is a Nigerian Professor of Health education and immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri. He assumed office as Vice Chancellor of the University on June 3, 2014 and prior to his appointment, he was the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university. Prof Ibrahim Njodi was appointed Secretary to the Gombe State government by Governor Inuwa Yahya immediately after his tenure elapsed as the Vice Chancellor of University of Maiduguri.

Celestine Onyemobi Elihe Onwuliri was an academician in the field of Parasitology. He served as the 5th Vice Chancellor of the FUTO University. He was also the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos.
Umara D. Gomwalk is a Nigerian academic. He was the first Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri and the Sole Administrator of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1994-1998). He was also professor emeritus of Medicine of University of Nigeria Nsukka. He preceded Ginigeme Francis Mbanefoh as the sole administrator of the institution. His administration had crises to deal with from its take over of VC role from Oleka Udeala until handing over in 1999 with Ginigeme Francis Mbanefoh. Gomwalk was at various times a teacher and Chairman, Presidential Advisory Council and the Governing Council of the Nigerian National Merit Award. He died on May 12, 2019, at the age of 83.
Frank Nwachukwu Ndili was the 1st Nigerian Nuclear Physicist and the 7th Vice Chancellor (President) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He served as Vice Chancellor (President) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1980 until he was succeeded by professor Chimere Ikoku in 1985. He left the office after a long and controversial investigation by the panel of inquiry. However, he is believed to have been forthright even where his predecessor Umaru Shehu (1978-1979) threaded carefully. During Professor Ndili's Vice-Chancellorship, effort was undertaken for the first time to rebuild and refurbish the University of Nigeria following its devastation by the Nigerian Civil War. Ndili envisioned that the University would be destined for world-class status and designed a Master Plan to that effect. Today, the grand University entryway, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, the School of General Studies, and the Faculty of Arts Complex stand as testimony to his grand vision.

He has served as Director of both the Academic Planning Unit and of the Quality Assurance Unit of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and he is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the same university. Johnson Urama was the state returning officer during the Kogi State gubernatorial election in Nigeria in 2024. According to a scientific index ranking, his works have been cited 650 times.
