Fravashi Academy is a private, co-educational, pre-primary, primary and secondary school run by the R. S. Luth Education Trust in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. It also has a junior college.
Ratanshaw Sorabji Luth, after whom the trust is named, founded it in 1978. He established Fravashi Academy four years later, in 1982. [1]
The name Fravashi is Avestan for the Zoroastrian theory of a personal spirit of an individual.
The current Chairman of the trust is Ratan Luth, the son of Ratanshaw Luth. C. C. de Rozario acts as the managing director and Aarti Sharma heads the school as the principal. Rashida Vasi supervises the primary section & Neha Meghrajani is the supervisor of the pre-primary section. Fravashi Academy has the ISO: 9001 – 2008 certification for its management systems. The school prepares the students for the grade X ICSE examinations conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, with which it is affiliated. [2]
The school grounds are segmented into various blocks: the administrative block, housing the fees counter, transport department, and the Chairman's office; the "Pre-Primary Paradise", which has classrooms, activity rooms and a play area for the kindergarten students; the primary section building, which has classrooms for I to IV students; the secondary section for grades V to X; the junior college floor for grades XI and XII; the ICSE Examination Hall, where the ICSE grade X examinations are conducted; and areas for activities and open spaces, including an assembly quadrangle, for morning assemblies.
The campus has a play area for pre-primary students, while for primary and secondary students the school has a dirt pitch, which has sport equipment installed for playing kho-kho, volleyball and basketball. The school also has a skating rink and equipment and installations for gymnastics and malakhamb, which are also offered as optional after school activities. The school also has chemistry, biology and physics laboratories, an audio-visual room, a library, and a computer lab, along with a canteen and a medical bay.
The school hosts many events and activities like elocution competitions, science fairs, an annual Sports Day, Parents' Day performances, the celebration of religious and national festivals, as well as "Sapere Aude", a three-day science, literature and art fest.
The school also has several school-run after-hours student clubs, like the Nature Club, which was run by the school in association with the Nature Conservation Society of Nashik for several years, and the Interact Club, a community service club which is affiliated with the Nashik Rotary Club, along with other clubs related to science, arts and sports, run by the school teachers.
The school also has a student council, which is selected from the student body by the teachers and the Principal, on the basis of academic and extracurricular merit. Students are selected from each house to serve as the house captain and vice-captain, while three students are nominated for the positions of Sports Captain, Head Boy and Head Girl.
The school also has kho-kho, badminton, football, volleyball, cricket, chess and swimming teams, which represent the school in inter-school and national-level sporting events.
