Xu Chen is a badminton player from China. In 2010, he was ranked within the top 10 men's badminton doubles in the world. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed in the mixed doubles with Ma Jin, winning the silver medal. In the final they lost to Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei, also from China. He was a World Championships medalists winning a silver in 2011 with Imogen Bankier and a bronze in 2017 with Gabby Adcock. Together with Gabby, he also won a silver medal at the 2007 World Junior Championships, and then claimed the gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018; and at the European Championships in 2017 and 2018.

The 2014 Brasil Open Grand Prix was the eleventh grand prix badminton tournament of the 2014 BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix. The tournament was held in Gymnasium of Comissão de Desporto da Aeronáutica (CDA), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 5 until 10 August 2014 and had a total purse of $50,000. This tournament organized by Confederação Brasileira de Badminton (CBBd), and sanctioned from the BWF. The sponsor of this tournament was the Brazilian Air Force, and Yonex. 130 players from 27 countries competed at this tournament.
