Geography

The Bagale and Shaffa Jauole lakes, two well-known lakes located inside the borders of Fufore LGA, with an average temperature of 34 °C. In Fufore LGA, there is an average of 18% humidity and 10 km/h of average wind speed. [3]

Average Temperature

The period of intense heat spans for 2.0 months, commencing on February 26 and concluding on April 27, during which the average daily high temperature exceeds 100°F. April stands out as the hottest month in Fufore, boasting an average high of 102°F and a low of 81°F.

Conversely, the cooler season endures for 3.3 months, starting on June 24 and ending on October 1, with an average daily high temperature below 91°F. The chilliest month of the year in Fufore is January, marked by an average low of 64°F and a high of 92°F. [4]

Methodology

During the analysis period spanning from 1980 to 2016, we calculate independent scores for perceived temperature, cloud cover, and total precipitation for each hour between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM every day. These scores are then combined into a single composite score for each hour, which is further aggregated into daily averages across all the years in the analysis period. These daily averages are then smoothed.

Our cloud cover score ranges from 10 for completely clear skies, gradually decreasing to 9 for mostly clear skies, and reaching a minimum score of 1 for entirely overcast skies.

The precipitation score is based on the three-hour precipitation centered on the hour in question, with a score of 10 indicating no precipitation. This score linearly decreases to 9 for trace precipitation and ultimately drops to 0 for 0.04 inches of precipitation or more.

Our tourism temperature score starts at 0 for perceived temperatures below 50°F, increases linearly to 9 at 65°F, reaches its peak at 10 for 75°F, then decreases linearly to 9 at 80°F, and falls to a minimum of 1 for temperatures of 90°F or higher.

Similarly, our beach/pool temperature score begins at 0 for perceived temperatures below 65°F, rises linearly to 9 at 75°F, reaches a maximum score of 10 at 82°F, and decreases linearly to 9 at 90°F, with a minimum score of 1 for temperatures of 100°F or above. [5]

Topography

For the purposes of this report, Fufore is located at 9.222 degrees latitude, 12.650 degrees longitude, and an elevation of 571 feet above sea level.

The terrain within a 2-mile radius of Fufore experiences only slight variations in elevation, with the most significant elevation difference being 217 feet, and an average elevation of 576 feet above sea level. Within a 10-mile radius, the elevation changes are also relatively minor, with a maximum of 1,693 feet. However, when considering a 50-mile radius, there are substantial elevation fluctuations, amounting to 5,564 feet.

The land cover within a 2-mile radius of Fufore consists mainly of cropland (63%), grassland (15%), trees (11%), and shrubs (11%). Expanding the radius to 10 miles, the predominant land cover includes cropland (52%) and shrubs (22%). In the broader area within 50 miles, cropland (50%) and shrubs (26%) continue to dominate the landscape. [6]

Economy

With crops like millet, rice, beans, soyabeans, and sorghum produced in the region, farming is the primary profession of the people of Fufore local government area. The Gurin cattle market is only one of the several markets in the Lical Government Area that serve as viable platforms for locals to trade a variety of commodities and services, illustrating how trade is thriving there as well.[ citation needed ]

In 2014, people fleeing violence in Gwoza built a new town in Fufore, at the existing hamlet of Daware (or Damare), off the Yola-Mubi highway. "The condition given for their stay in Daware was that no temporary tents will be erected as the new residents have been allotted both farm and building plots to begin normal life." [8] A school was set up at Damare Camp for the children, with teachers volunteering from the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, and American University of Nigeria, Yola. [9]

Gwiwa is a Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Gwiwa which is a reminiscent of Kagara, a settlement that flourished around 1757c. According to oral tradition, Kagara was ransacked by an expedition sent by Bawa-jangwarzo as part of the wars that ensued between Katsina and Gobir. At that time the area was under the kingdom of Katsina until 1824 when Kazaure Emirate was curved out by the Sakkwato Caliphate. A number of legendary wells surround the old site of Kagara which is about 2 kilometers northwest of the present day Gwiwa town. The number of these wells suggest the size and influence of Kagara at that point in time. Other artefacts could also be found to illuminate on the historical significance of the area. Gwiwa town was once a district headquarters at the inception of the indirect rule by the British. However, this was reverted and Gwiwa was reduced to a colonial out-post until in 1992 when it was made a Local Government headquarters. Generally, the area is arable and fertile. However the land is mainly of Katsina basic complex especially northward of Gwiwa. While some traces of sand dumes are found in the southern part of the local Government Area. It had an area of 450 km2 and a population of 124,517 at the 2006 census.
