Futura Gael was an airline based in Dublin, Ireland, wholly owned by Futura International Airways, operating charter flights to Mediterranean countries, Eastern Europe and Egypt. [2]
Futura Gael was set up by Futura International Airways in order to get the necessary traffic rights to operate charter flights from Ireland to destinations outside the European Union. The airline operated charter flights to the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe.
During 2008, Futura Gael was reported to have planned cutbacks in staffing and wages and had been trying to make a deal with its creditors; specifically, management suggested that all employee salaries be cut to €1000 a month.[ citation needed ]
On 7 September 2008, a Futura Gael flight bound for Málaga, Spain was delayed at Dublin Airport for nearly three hours before it finally took off just before 10pm. The airline officially ceased operations at midnight on the 8 September 2008. [3] [4]
The airline's aircraft had the standard Futura livery with a decal citing "Gael" on the forward section. [5]

Britannia Airways was a charter airline based in the UK. It was founded in 1961 as Euravia and became the world's largest holiday airline. Britannia's main bases were at London Gatwick, London Stansted, London Luton, Cardiff, Bristol, East Midlands, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Glasgow. It had its headquarters at Britannia House in Luton.
Helios Airways (Ajet.com) was a low-cost Cypriot airline operating scheduled and charter flights between Cyprus and many European and African destinations. It had its corporate headquarters on the grounds of Larnaca International Airport in Larnaca. Its main base was Larnaca International Airport. Flights ceased on 6 November 2006 because the company's aircraft were detained and its bank accounts frozen by the government of Cyprus.
XL Airways was a British low-cost charter and scheduled airline, which ceased operations when it went into administration on 12 September 2008. Its headquarters were in Crawley, West Sussex, near London Gatwick Airport. It was part of the XL Leisure Group. From its three bases at London Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow, the airline provided short-haul and long-haul charter services, predominantly to leisure destinations.
New Axis Airways, known until 2006 as Axis Airways, was an airline based in Marseille, France. It operated domestic and international charter flights and cargo services on behalf of European clients. Its main bases were Marseille Provence Airport and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
Centralwings was a charter airline based in Warsaw, Poland. The airline operated as a low-cost airline and then became a charter-only operation in October 2008. It was a subsidiary of LOT Polish Airlines, operating international services in Europe, using Boeing 737 aircraft. Its main base was Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport, with hubs at Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport and John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice. On 26 March 2009 the board of LOT Polish Airlines decided to close Centralwings with no information about what was to happen to its employees.
ASL Airlines Belgium, (ASLB) formerly TNT Airways, is a Belgian cargo airline operating chartered flights mainly to European destinations. It has its head office and hub on the grounds of Liège Airport. The airline used to be a subsidiary of TNT Express but was acquired by ASL Aviation Holdings DAC and subsequently rebranded in 2016. ASL Aviation Holdings DAC, the parent company of ASL Airlines Belgium, is headquartered in Swords, County Dublin, Ireland.

ASL Aviation Holdings DAC, the parent company of ASL Airlines Ireland, is headquartered in Swords, County Dublin, Ireland.
West Atlantic UK Limited, formerly Atlantic Airlines Ltd is a British cargo airline based at East Midlands Airport. It operates contract and ad hoc cargo flights worldwide, especially within Europe as part of the West Atlantic Group. The company's fleet is composed of Boeing 737 and ATR72 aircraft. The airline specialises in the transport of dangerous goods and radioactive products and other specialist aerial work, including oil spill response, dispersant spraying and icing trials. It used to operate from Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York to the Caribbean, Cancún, and South America.
Norwegian Air International was an Irish airline and fully integrated subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle, using its corporate identity. It operated flights to destinations in Europe and the Middle East from various European bases, and was headquartered at Dublin Airport. Between 2017 and 2019, it also offered services from Europe to the United States and Canada. In the years following, its aircraft were gradually transferred to Swedish sister airline Norwegian Air Sweden and its parent company, until the last of its aircraft were transferred by April 2021, with its operations also taken over by the Swedish airline.
