The Rev. G. Samuel [2] is the senior Pastor of Baptist Church Hyderabad, [3] a church with a congregation of over 13,000 and services in four different languages.

The Rev. G. Samuel was born on 5 January 1945 in a small village called Udayagiri, Nellore district in India. He lost his father at the age of five, and his mother raised him as a Christian and encouraged him to become a full-time minister and finished his Bachelor of Divinity from the Ramayapatnam Baptist Theological Seminary, Ramayapatnam [1] studying between 1962-1966 [1] which was then overseen by Maurice Blanchard and Louis F. Knoll and was also taught by the Old Testament Scholar, Gaddala Solomon and was awarded the degree in the ensuing convocation of the Senate of Serampore College (University) by then Registrar, Chetti Devasahayam, CBCNC.

Samuel was a Missionary Pastor in Nagaland from 1967 through 1970. [4] After coming back from Nagaland, he was appointed as the first full-time Pastor for Baptist Church Hyderabad on 22 June 1970. He was ordained in 1973. [5] Samuel has acted as president of the Andhra Pradesh chapter of the All-India Christian Council. [6]

As an important ecclesiastical figure among the Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches, Samuel had been in the forefront of leadership together with S. Benjamin, N. Thomas, and K. Prabhudas and had visited the American Baptist Churches in the United States of America in the nineties. [7] During the 9th World Telugu Christian Summit held in 2017 in Sydney, Australia, Samuel also took part in it together with his fellow companions, Ravela Joseph, STBC and Suppogu Joseph, STBC [8] in the presence of the Church Historian, B. C. Paul, AELC. [9]

Personal life

Although the institution of marriage is not compulsory among Protestant Clergy, Samuel chose to get married on 27 June 1966 to Eva and together they went to Nagaland where their first child Sarah Rose was born in Nagaland. Samuel and Eva together have 4 children namely Sarah Rose, Mary Sucharita Babbili, David Prashant Gollapalle and Solomon Sumanth. David Gollapalle is the Junior Pastor [10] and Solomon Sumonth is the Worship leader of Baptist Church Hyderabad.

Council of Christian Hospitals (COCH), an autonomous body that facilitates management of medical institutions founded by Missionaries of Canadian Baptist Mission. COCH is a body corporate under Indian Societies Registration Act and has its registered office in premises of one of its participating hospitals, that is, CBM Christian Medical Centre, Pithapuram in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh.

M. Victor Paul was a biblical scholar who served as President of the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church from 1993 to 1997.

Ryder Devapriam was systematic theologian who taught during the 1960s and the 1970s at the Andhra Christian Theological College, a Protestant Regional Theologiate in Secunderabad, affiliated to the nation's first University, the Senate of Serampore College (University) {a University under Section 2 (f) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956}with degree-granting authority validated by a Danish Charter and ratified by the Government of West Bengal.

The Bible Society of India Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary is located in Guntur.

STBC-Centenary Baptist Church Secunderabad is a Baptist Church in the city of Secunderabad, India which was established in 1875 by the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society (ABM) and was later led by the Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches (STBC) through the Deccan Association. STBC-Centenary Baptist Church has a current membership of more than 3000. The original older structure and a new centenary structure built in 1991 exist side by side in the same premises. Worship services are only held in the new sanctuary. The church conducts worship in Telugu, English, Hindi and Manipuri.

Acharya A. B. Masilamani or Abel Boanerges Masilamani (1914–1990) was a Golden Jubilee Baptist pastor and evangelist on whom parallels had been drawn comparing his ecclesiastical ministry with that of Saint Paul. The Mar Thoma Syrian Church, one of the Saint Thomas Christian Churches founded by Thomas the Apostle in the first century which holds the annual Maramon Conventions used to have Masilamani preach at its conventions since the 1970s. During one such Maramon Convention held in 1983 at Maramon, Masilamani was one of the main speaker who spoke on Christology in the presence of the two patriarchs of the Mar Thoma Church, Alexander Mar Thoma and Thomas Mar Athanius.

Ravela Joseph is a Priest of the Protestant Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches (STBC) with over 50 years of ecclesiastical ministry, much of which was into Spiritual formation, having taught at the Andhra Christian Theological College, Secunderabad, Telangana (India).

In a study on Luke in 2010 by Justin Alexandru undertaken at the University of Durham, Joseph's work has been cited by the researcher in the context of Authorship of Luke–Acts where Justin authoritatively attests the work of Joseph.

Rayi Ratna Sundara Rao was a prolific writer, theologian and comparative religion scholar who once was the principal of the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai, affiliated to India's first university, the Senate of Serampore College (University).

S. E. Krupa Rao was a Pastor of the Protestant Convention of Baptist Churches of Northern Circars where he held leadership positions in the Church society whose area of operation extended from Srikakulam District in the northern circars along the Bay of Bengal right through seven districts up to Guntur District.

G. Solomon was an Old Testament Scholar and a Baptist Patriarch hailing from the Protestant Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches Society (an affiliate member of the Baptist World Alliance and the National Council of Churches in India) and led it as its President during the years 1978-1982 overseeing the spiritual affairs of the Church Society whose ecclesiastical jurisdiction comprises the three states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with 873 Churches comprising nearly a million members per present statistics.

Mennonite Brethren Centenary Bible College (MBCBC), founded in 1920, is a Mennonite Bible College in Shamshabad and is affiliated with the Conference of the Mennonite Brethren Churches in India and the nation's first University, the Senate of Serampore College (University)with degree-granting authority validated by a Danish charter and ratified by the Government of West Bengal.

Paturi Paul Williams(2 July 1943 - 22 August 2016) was a 1966 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, best known for his administration in Public sector undertakings in India, especially in Andhra Pradesh, significantly, as the 29th Chairperson cum Managing Director of State-owned Singareni Collieries Company. During the 1990s, he had been credited with turning a loss-making unit into one that achieved profits.

Nalla Thomas was an Asian Christian and a spiritual personality, who served the Church in Assam and undivided Andhra Pradesh for nearly four decades comprising the seventies through the New millennium. He used to compose hymns for enhancing spiritual direction. Thomas was an Ecclesiastical administrator of Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches Society.

Perapogu Joseph was a military chaplain in the Indian Army Corps of EME and a counselor who taught students in Serampore College, Serampore and Andhra Christian Theological College, Secunderabad.
