Gabriel Albuquerque (born 9 April 2006) [1] is a Portuguese trampoline gymnast. He won a bronze medal in synchronized trampoline at the 2024 European Championships.
Albuquerque finished eighth in the double mini trampoline final at the 2017 World Age Group Competitions, [2] and he placed eighth in individual trampoline at the 2018 World Age Group Competitions. [3] He won the gold medal in the individual event at the 2019 World Age Group Competitions in Tokyo, becoming the first Portuguese trampoline gymnast to achieve this distinction. [1] At the 2021 European Championships, he won a silver medal with the Portuguese junior trampoline team. [4] He won the individual event among 15–16 year olds at the 2021 World Age Group Competitions. [5] In 2022, he won his third consecutive World Age Group Competitions individual title. [6] He also won a silver medal in the synchronized event with partner Sergio Aniceto. [7]
Albuquerque began competing in senior competitions in 2023. At the 2023 Santarem World Cup, he placed eighth in the individual final and fifth in the synchronized event with his partner Lucas Santos. [8] [9] Then at the Coimbra World Cup, he placed fourth with Santos and seventh as an individual. [10] [11] At the Palm Beach World Cup, he placed eighth as an individual. [12] He won a silver medal with Santos at the 2023 Varna World Cup. [13] He placed fourth in the individual event at the 2023 World Championships and secured his country a berth for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Albuquerque placed seventh in the 2024 Baku World Cup and sixth at the Cottbus World Cup in the individual event. Following these result, he was officially selected to represent Portugal at the 2024 Summer Olympics. [17] [18] He then won a bronze medal with synchro partner Lucas Santos at the 2024 European Championships. [19]
Trampolining or trampoline gymnastics is a competitive Olympic sport in which athletes perform acrobatics while bouncing on a trampoline. In competition, these can include simple jumps in the straight, pike, tuck, or straddle position to more complex combinations of forward and/or backward somersaults and twists. Scoring is based on the difficulty and on the total seconds spent in the air. Points are deducted for bad form and horizontal displacement from the center of the bed.
Dmitri Vladimir "Dima" Poliaroush is a Belarusian gymnastics coach and former competitive trampolinist. He is a six-time World Champion, seven-time European Champion, and twenty-time World Cup winner. He competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2004 Summer Olympics, finishing fifth and fourth respectively. Poliaroush was the first man to perform a “Double Full In – Double Full Out” on trampoline and the skill is named after him. He is the only person who has been an active trampolinist and trampoline coach at the Olympic Games.
Charlotte Frances Drury is an American trampoline gymnast. At the 2014 Minsk World Cup, she finished at the top of the podium in the individual event, becoming the first American woman to win a gold medal in trampoline at a World Cup. That same year, she was crowned national champion at the USA Gymnastics Championships. She was a member of the US Trampoline and Tumbling National Team from 2011 to 2021 and was an alternate at the 2020 Summer Olympics games in Tokyo.
Léa Labrousse is a French trampolinist. She is a two-time World silver medalist and the 2019 European Games individual champion. She became the first French woman to win gold at the European Trampoline Championships with her synchro partner Marine Jurbert. She represented France at the 2020 Summer Olympics and will compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Camilla Lopes Gomes is a Brazilian individual and synchronised trampoline gymnast, representing her nation at international competitions.
Dylan Matthew Schmidt is a New Zealand trampoline gymnast. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics and finished in seventh place. He was New Zealand's first athlete to compete in trampoline at the Olympic Games. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, he won the bronze medal and became New Zealand's first Olympic medallist in any gymnastics discipline. He became the individual trampoline world champion at the 2022 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships and is New Zealand's first world champion in men's trampoline. He won the gold medal in the individual event at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics.
Ivan Uladzimiravich Litvinovich is a Belarusian trampoline gymnast. He represented Belarus at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won the gold medal in the men's trampoline individual event. He again won the gold medal in the individual event at the 2024 Summer Olympics, as an Individual Neutral Athlete, making him the first male trampoline athlete ever to win two gold medals in the Olympics and the only AIN to win gold. He is a two-time World champion and the 2021 European champion in the individual team event, and he is the 2019 World individual silver medalist.
Ruben Padilla is an American trampoline gymnast. He has won seven senior national titles across three disciplines and two World Championships on double-mini and was named alternate to the 2024 Olympics for men's trampoline.
Dafne Carolina Navarro Loza is a Mexican trampoline gymnast. She is the 2018 and 2022 World synchro bronze medalist and was Mexico's first World medalist in trampoline. As an individual, she became Mexico's first Pan American Games medalist in trampoline when she won the silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games, and she won the bronze medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. She competed at the 2020 Olympic Games, becoming the first trampoline gymnast to represent Mexico at the Olympics.
Malak Hamza is an Egyptian trampoline gymnast. She competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics and has qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Madaline Davidson is a New Zealand trampoline gymnast. She competed at the 2020 Olympic Games and finished tenth in the qualification, making her the second reserve for the final. She is the first female trampolinist to represent New Zealand at the Olympics.
